frankenkitty (1900), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA Feb 4, 2006 Enjoyed side-by-side in a horizontal with the other four of the Bell’s Wheat series.
A largish, white head held and laced frothily above a golden/copper body that was hazed with a dot-pattern of sediment. Aromas of banana & phenols with light clove. Fluffy, light & Hefewiezen in character with banana flavors in a siky mouthfeel. Fairly perfect as-is and an intriguing stepping stone to the others in the series, but the flavor here is delicate and not fully actualized.

eve (240), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Feb 2, 2006 Pours deep gold with fine-textured head, aroma is lots of yeasty wheat. What an incredibly silky palate, light bright floral flavor with citrus and yeast, quenching yet velvety. Really delicious example of the style. Jokes (1453), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jan 29, 2006 Hazy, golden body with a fluffy white head. Sweet, citric aroma of oranges, wheat bread, banana, bubble gum, passionfruit and a light hint of apricot. The is light, crisp and effervescent, though it does fall off a little near the end. More wheat and yeasty sweetness in the mouth, with a very light, subtle hop presence in the end, creating a bit of balance. Not all that bad, actually. The flavors are broad and enjoyable and the experience is refreshing and satisfying. A cool beer. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA Jan 22, 2006 Cloudy light gold, medium sized white head. Aroma is sweet, estery bubblegum. Taste is both sweet and dry with just the mellowest of hop bite. A really balanced wheat. qdog (201), Cleveland, Mississippi, USA Jan 21, 2006 Bottle from Styles, golden orange in color, medium head, minimal lacing, aroma of yeast and citrus, first taste is yeast which leaves a hoppy citrus aftertaste. not bad lethe (168), Stony Brook by way of Cincinnati, New York, USA Jan 17, 2006 Frothy head atop a transparent wheat haze that offers a spiced, fruity bouquet. Palate is thin to medium with some carbonation. Flavor is a wheat litany of banana, clove, vanilla, and feint yeast. A strong example of an American wheat, but a little too thin in flavor and body, preventing it from getting to that top level of wheats. Kevin (1917), Colorado, USA Jan 16, 2006 hazed copper pour with a white head. aroma is banana bread and grape tart. wheaty flavor with something like vanilla pudding skin. tongue piercing carbonation bite. a bit of banana in the finish with some bubblegum. very clean finish for a wheat, but just a bit too unpleasant on my tongue physically for my liking. thanks to atpayne for this. SpringsLicker (2041), Tennessee, USA Jan 16, 2006 Thanks to CaptainCougar for this one!
pours with a large, creamy, long lasting white head that forms over a hazy dark yellow body.
Freah yeasty aroma that carries more than the average American Wheat, but not quite approaching the full bouquet one can expect from a fresh German Hefe. Citrusy and spicy.
Sweet, smooth and rich bodied. Filling.
Nicely done.
