Commercial Description:
This beer is the first in Bell’s Wheat Project. Project comprises five new ales, four in series and one specialty strong product. The first four, Wheat 2, Wheat 4, Wheat 6 and Wheat eight are all made using 55% Wheat (either wholly or mostly malted) and 45% Barley malt. The barley malt makeup is exactly the same in each of the four and consists of three different malts. The total amount of grain in each of the four is also exactly the same, so each of them should have a virtually identical original gravity. The type and amount of hops in each of the four is exactly the same. And the processing through the brewhouse and fermentation is also exactly the same. The changing factors between the ales are the composition of the 55% of wheat used and the type and number of yeast strains used. In Wheat 2 the 55% of wheat is made up of two different kinds of wheat malt, and this ale is made with two different yeasts. Wheat Two Wheats: White, Dark Yeast: Bell’s house ale strain, WLP410 Belgian Wit II

Cloudy...medium, burnt-orange...floaties (yeasty)...Highly wheaty and spicy aroma (coriander, citrus)...This is a very good wheat beer, which are often too mellow and uninspired. Bells made this wheat beer slightly sweet, with a generous helping of refreshing fruit such as oranges and even banans. Nicely balanced too.

Cloudy orange in color, with lasting, sticky white lace - aroma of wheat (duh), oranges, lemon rind, honey - rather hearty for a wheat - tastes like marmalade spread on toast - some citrus and spice on the tail end - quite a wonderful wheat beer.

light golden sun in color, not much of a head. Hops, clove and banana smell. This one really delivers the banana and clove taste. Wow. Just a little thin on the back side. The 6 combined with the 2 would be delicious. Great beer.

Orange bordering on amber colour with rocky off-white head that stuck around for a while but disappeared into a thing ring after drinking. Clean grassy aroma with citrus hops aroma. Confronted with slightly bitter hops, a bit of wheaty grain, followed by a soft sweetness. Taste lingers nicely for a moment or two then disappears. Thicker bready texture.

Pours with a thin head, body is a light orange with a slight haze. Slow bubbles. Fresh citrus aroma balanced with quite a bit of grains- a fragrance so similar to that found in many many breweries. Pleasing. Taste is fruity up front with leafy hops. Great presence of tangy hops, bitterness, dry graininess balanced with a light sweetness. Bitterness is almost perfect. Finish is a little lacking, slight bananna citrus.

Thanks to Darkover for hooking me up. Golden-orange color with a compact off-white head. Thin, spotty lacing. The aroma is mildly fruity and malty. Light-bodied and fairly lively, with light yeast, wheat and malt flavors. The finish is smooth and has a hint of citrus with a sweet aftertaste. Pretty enjoyable overall.

Bottle. White fizzy head that was mostly lasting and contained various sized bubbles, sparse lacing, cloudy, carbonated and a yellow orange hue. Aroma was malty, hoppy, sweet, banana, spicy, and clove and ditto for the flavor. Smooth palate. Light-medium body.
