Commercial Description:
This beer is the first in Bell’s Wheat Project. Project comprises five new ales, four in series and one specialty strong product. The first four, Wheat 2, Wheat 4, Wheat 6 and Wheat eight are all made using 55% Wheat (either wholly or mostly malted) and 45% Barley malt. The barley malt makeup is exactly the same in each of the four and consists of three different malts. The total amount of grain in each of the four is also exactly the same, so each of them should have a virtually identical original gravity. The type and amount of hops in each of the four is exactly the same. And the processing through the brewhouse and fermentation is also exactly the same. The changing factors between the ales are the composition of the 55% of wheat used and the type and number of yeast strains used. In Wheat 2 the 55% of wheat is made up of two different kinds of wheat malt, and this ale is made with two different yeasts. Wheat Two Wheats: White, Dark Yeast: Bell’s house ale strain, WLP410 Belgian Wit II

Pours a cloudy yellowish golden color with a medium sized white head. Aroma is full of various types of wheat, hops, malts and a hint of banana. Taste is similar to the aroma with a wheat and banana prominance. Very tasty and refreshing.

Pale golden yellow color with a slimming cap of whitish hue. A fluffy collar stays at the edge. Drippy lace; not much sticking. Aroma is dullishly snappy and wheaty, semi yeasty, plasticy, with a bit of banana. Taste is pale and subdued with a favorable wheat base thats fairly smooth the whole way through. Finishes with a light yeasty dry twist and fluffed grainyness. Feel is a bit underwhelming if not all together rounded in a wheat malt base. Light to medium in body with a light wheaty texture thats akin to a hefe in many regards. Very drinkable brew. A decent pale wheat. Note: Taste tested comparison with back to back mixed samples of the 4, 6, and 8 wheat beers.

kind of like a beefed up winter white, belgium stylee yeast aroma and flavor, nice frothy palate, sweet flavor that’s pretty well balanced, a very strange "american wheat", i don’t know if that’s legit, not bad

This bottled brew poured a large sized head of foamy fine to medium sized mostly lasting white colored bubbles that left behind a good lacing. The body contained average carbonation, was cloudy and orange brown in color. Its aroma contained notes of acidic wheat and malt. Its mouth feel is initially tingly with a lingering tingly palate and a aftertaste. Its flavor contained thick malt wheat notes.

Thanks to secret santa for this one. Pours a deep gold with a nice white head that fades- also pretty cloudy. Aroma is moslty banana, with a bit of ripe apple and other esters, with slight cheesy hints and a bit of must. Flavor is more straightforward and not as complex. Lots of wheat malt in the flavor and palate, with hints of the esters in the end, and a bit of tartness as well. Smells like a belgian/german wheat mix, but tastes like a full bodied american wheat. This is a good experimental wheat beer.

Clear straw-colored brew with a fairly subtstantial frothy white head. Aroma is sweet and heavy of bread, grass and yeast. Maybe a touch of honey and some bananas. Flavor seems to pick up on the cloudy yeast, grain that is not present visually. Aftertaste is dominated by a grassy, banana flavor that is very different, but pleasant. Don’t know that I’d buy a case of it, but pretty good.
