Commercial Description:
This beer is the first in Bell’s Wheat Project. Project comprises five new ales, four in series and one specialty strong product. The first four, Wheat 2, Wheat 4, Wheat 6 and Wheat eight are all made using 55% Wheat (either wholly or mostly malted) and 45% Barley malt. The barley malt makeup is exactly the same in each of the four and consists of three different malts. The total amount of grain in each of the four is also exactly the same, so each of them should have a virtually identical original gravity. The type and amount of hops in each of the four is exactly the same. And the processing through the brewhouse and fermentation is also exactly the same. The changing factors between the ales are the composition of the 55% of wheat used and the type and number of yeast strains used. In Wheat 2 the 55% of wheat is made up of two different kinds of wheat malt, and this ale is made with two different yeasts. Pours a cloudy deep golden with a nicely-lacing frothy white head. Aroma has some pleasant sweet wheat with coriander and citrus notes along with a bready yeasty presence. First taste is of lightly sweet malted wheat and some clove and coriander spice. Reveals some mild diacetyl toward the middle and finishes crisp and bittersweet with some nice noble hoppiness. A nice, easy drinking beer that seems like more of a cross between a hefeweizen and a witbier than an American wheat.

Pours straw yellow with a white head with good retention. Traditional wheat beer aroma with a mild hint of extra hops in the nose and the palate.

Instinctively I poured this in my Hoegaarden glass and it fit like a glove, not the OJ one. Very much like a wit in aroma and taste with all the spices. Nice but kind of odd this time of year but then again their winter beer is a wheat.

Though not a fan of wheat beers, this pleased me. A hazy gold body nestled beneath a decent frothy white head. The aroma was a medley of fruit -- apricots, bananas, passion fruit, citrus zest -- and mulling spices. The texture was thick and smooth with gente carbonation. The flavor was rustic, earthy, spice and fruit sweetness. Nicely done.

Bottle from Schroppfy. Pours a light amber color with just the slightest bit of opacity. Fair sized white head fades over a moderate amount of time to a sporadic layer and ring, great lacing. Aroma has a bit of ester, clove being dominant for me. Lighter bodied with pleasant, lively, carbonation. Tangy, lightly acidic with a modest spicey presence for flavor. Wheat lingers in the finish. Decently done.

Bottle. Poured a hazy copper color with a medium white head that diminished slowly producing good lacing. Medium spicy wheat aroma. Medium texture. Good complex spice and wheat flavor with a good finish.

Lots of clove supported by wheat, banana, and bubblegum in the aroma. Fairly clear golden color, thin white head. Clean flavor, mostly wheat with a little clove, moderate hop bitterness. Medium body with moderate carbonation. A simple wheat beer, not bad.
