Commercial Description:
This beer is the first in Bell’s Wheat Project. Project comprises five new ales, four in series and one specialty strong product. The first four, Wheat 2, Wheat 4, Wheat 6 and Wheat eight are all made using 55% Wheat (either wholly or mostly malted) and 45% Barley malt. The barley malt makeup is exactly the same in each of the four and consists of three different malts. The total amount of grain in each of the four is also exactly the same, so each of them should have a virtually identical original gravity. The type and amount of hops in each of the four is exactly the same. And the processing through the brewhouse and fermentation is also exactly the same. The changing factors between the ales are the composition of the 55% of wheat used and the type and number of yeast strains used. In Wheat 2 the 55% of wheat is made up of two different kinds of wheat malt, and this ale is made with two different yeasts. Wheat Two Wheats: White, Dark Yeast: Bell’s house ale strain, WLP410 Belgian Wit II

Translucent lighter copper color, thin head just around the perimeter. Has some banana in the nose and taste, finishes quick and dry.

Rated 9/12/06: Nice wheat produced here. Good yeasty aroma reminiscent of a hefeweizen touches of banana and spices. Pours a cloudy golden yellow, slim white head was a let down but decent lacing is present. Smooth full satisfying mouthfeel, finish is a little detracting. Flavor is very solid and enjoyable. Heavy wheat presence, lightly hopped. This american wheat is very close to a classic german hefe in many aspects. Solid effort.

Golden color out of the bottle with a thin off-white head. Smooth wheat mouthfeel. Caramel sweetness with some dark toffee and raisen notes. Some begian sugar sense about it. Very nice beer, even at its age.

Nice cloudy golden/amber pour with moderate thick white foam that dissipates quickly down to a thin covering. Slight sediment, even after a careful pour. Wheaty aroma, with hints of bananas and spices. Slightly sweet banana taste with hints of grassy hops. Hoppy finish that goes down pretty smooth. Kind of halfway between a pale ale ad a wheat, but very nice.

BoTTle Murky orange with a fluffy white head. Aroma is wheat, banana, cloves, and yeast. Sweet with that banana yeast taste. Body is a little light in the finish. Finish also a nice banana aftertaste and some spices...its grew on me...nice wheat beer from one of my favorite brewerys
