HonkeyBra (614), Lemont, Illinois, USA Dec 28, 2008 Pretty excited to try this one. Dark red pour with a smell, off white head. Aroma is sour, yeasty. Flavor is very sour. Like sour cherries and apples, sour plums, sour grapes. Extraordinary sour. Fantastically sour. Was served a bit too cold, but I let it warm up. Absolutely awesome. wmubronco1992 (127), Coldwater, Michigan, USA Dec 26, 2008 On Tap at Eccentric cafe. Pour an Amber color. No head. No lacing. Sour aroma. Really sour taste. Like biting into a really sour apple. Had this beer on Eccentric Day 2008, 12/05/08. Probabaly made mistake by drinking it right after finishing the much sweeter Eccentric Ale. After drinking the much sweeter beer this one was way too sour. Honestly it was so sour that it was almost undrinkable. Agree with the comment that Bells seems to serve their beers too cold. I do not understand their thinking. Each beer I drank that day was much better as it warmed. I will need to try this one again prior to drinking anything sweet. MrBunn (1005), Western, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 21, 2008 Finally! Been trying to hit this on right at Eccentric Cafe for a while, so when this was on tap last night I was pretty pleased. Pours a dark reddish brown with little head. Aromas are full of sourness: apples, pie cherries, sour grapes and oak. They serve the thing way too cold, so the flavors did not really pop at first. Flavor is consistent with the nose, but has a fairly thin mouthfeel and does not have the sticky and sweet malt that goes with some from this style. NobleSquirrel (782), Chicago, Illinois, USA Dec 15, 2008 Tap at Eccentric Cafe. Pours a very dark red/brown with dissipating head. Nose is tart cherries and a touch of apple, acid. Taste is pretty deep. Initially a lot of cherry type flavor with minor apple notes and a nice acidity to keep you braced. Once the sour starts to leave, a nice robust roasty and chocolatey note starts to show up. Finish is dry and clean. Pretty good stuff. lampeno420 (270), Zeeland, Michigan, USA Dec 6, 2008 On tap twice at Eccentric Day:
12/5/08 Deliciously tangy attack on the side of the tongue. Very tart and sour up front, but the finish dies off quickly. Notes of green grapes and granny smith apples are what stands out the most, not a hugely think beer, and if you can get past all the sour, its quite drinkable. Very enjoyable.
