3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 mothman (120) - Fargo, North Dakota, USA - AUG 23, 2010
Poured into a large pilsner glass.
Color is a very hazy yellow. Very cloudy. Pours a thin head that doesn’t last at all.
Smell is similiar to a hefeweisen, just not as strong; cloves and bananas. Taste is quite similar. There is a smooth malty taste also.
Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy. A slight bitterness with a touch of alcohol being present.
Overall, this is one of my least favorites from Bell’s. There really isn’t anything to special about this, but it is easy to drink.

Sweet, citrus aroma to lead this one off. Flavor is light on hops and medium on citrus and malts. Slightly refreshing body.

Poured from the bottle a clear golden color. Shows good carbonation. Aroma is belgian yeast, some clove and maybe some cedar? Taste also gives some woody notes along side the classic belgian flavors. Only a subtle bitterness to speak of. Finishes dry and crisp. Albeit I am not a fan of belgian beers in general, this one isn’t bad.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 lagermonkey (725) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - JUN 6, 2010
Poured 12/2009
Luminous golden color with a snow-white froth. Smell is predictable spicy with clove and coriander present, a touch of bitter citrus and sweet, grainy wheat malt.
Again, spicy in the mouth. Coriander, clove and some other peppery spices. Sweetish finish, nice wheat character. Some muted fruitiness, green apples and pear.
A better white ale than most American versions I have tried. Spicy and lively, easy to drink and, although not a true winter beer, a really tasty ale.

Very nice to have a winter offering that is a little lighter and easier to pair food. Pretty big body for the style, big spice, and nice hops bitterness. I enjoy every winter on its release!

bottle batch 9472 poured a golden in color with a thin white ring of head and light visible carbonation. aroma has yeast, banana, flowers, wheat, and some mild hops. light mouth feel with a caramel coating and low side carbonation. flavor leans to the yeast right away. banana, light spicing, flowers, dull wheat, and some light hops on the end. overall this works but the yeast is really the focal point here.
