A Wheat Ale brewed with American Wheat and a proprietary blend of Hefe and classic Belgian-style yeasts. A refreshing winter alternative created from the subtle fusion of two classic flavors.

Wheat beers are summer beers. The big surprise is that this is a wheat beer on testosterone. Every classic aspect of a wheat is a bit exagerated in this beer. It is very cloudy with s short finely laced head. The beer is a dark straw color with a strong lemony aroma. The palate is adequately short of sweet with citrus overtones and a fairly strong hop follow through. Wheats are not my favorite, but this one holds its own.

Cloudy straw appearance. Easy to drink with little carbonation. Hints of coriander in the taste. Nice cold weather alternative to all the heavy dark beers. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2 Nov. 2011 bottling, served in a pint glass. (from notes) Golden-yellow color with thin, and short-lived, white head. Cloudy. Looks like a typical wheat beer rather a typical "winter ale", but then this is a "Winter White" and is a witbier. Aroma -- Wheaty and yeasty with hints of citrus and apricots. Taste -- Largely follows aroma: Wheaty and yeasty with hints of citrus, bananas, nutmeg, cloves and apricots. Lightly tart. O -- a fine example of the style, with only a slight departure from normal witbier prep. -- without the packaging, I would not have noticed this one is "seasonally nuanced". A winter ale for the tropics, perhaps.

Transfer from BA review on 3-4-12 - Served in a 10 oz chalice glass Appearance – Served a hazy yellow-orange color with a medium white head. The head faded leaving only a very small amount of lacing. Smell – The aroma was of yeast and citrus mixed with a bit of spiciness. There was a wheaty-bready smell that mixed in with the citrus. Very traditional wit aromas, but nothing too potent or special. Taste – Wheat flavors are the first to meet the tongue. These are quickly enhanced by some spiciness of coriander and citrus flavors which come mixed with some more yeasty flavors. There are some subtle banana and topical fruits as well. All in all, the fruits are overall moderate and light in comparison to the wheat and spice. Mouthfeel – A bit more crisp at first, but it seems to mellow and become more creamy in the mouth over time. The carbonation is a little on the higher side which matches the crispness nicely and seems to depart just as the creaminess enters. It has a rather nice overall feel. Overall – A pretty nice wit. It has a nice feel and a pretty good flavor, but is just a little weak in smell and aroma.

Zesty. Lots of citrus up front. Cinnamon? Spices. Finishes quite dry on the palate.

A soft, gentle wit. Very light on the hops, and not much spice. A little sweet muffin flavor and a touch of clove. There is a mild tingle on the palate and some citrus peel in the aroma. A nice one.

This is heads and tales the best of all wheat beers. When compared to the overly spiced knockoffs of good winter ales this is one I can always go to (it is seasonal however). I was so impressed with the clean mild aroma that has enough bite for my taste that I would say it helped truly see a difference in the other wheat ales I’ve tried. It will always be my acid test against any other comers. Wish I didn’t have to wait till next year for it.

On tap @ Radio Maria. Cloudy light yellow. Estery wheat, citrus, a touch of banana even. Dry finish. An odd choice for winter, but tasty.

12 oz bottle, also draft (from notes). Pours a hazy golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma and flavor have wheat, citrus, lightly tart, spices, banana and general fruit character. Drinkable, but I might do this in the flavor summer, not winter.
