COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The result of a collaboration brew done late in the fall of 2012 with Evil Twin Brewing (Denmark & Brooklyn). This stout was soured in barrels by an army of wee beasties over a period of 6 months. The resulting beer pairs natural acidic and tart fruit flavors with roasted malts. Mighty tasty. Draft 8.7% ABV, bottles refermented and 9.2% ABV

Bottle: Poured a deep black color ale with a large brown foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of tart notes with some dry roasted notes that are also perceptible. Taste is a mix between some tart notes with some dry roasted malt notes with light funky and acidic undertones. Body is about average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Interesting mix but I am not personally a big fan of those soured stout.

Bottle from the brewery. May 15, 2013.
Pours black with a long lasting off-white billowing head. An abundance of cherries in the aroma along with roasted malts. Very drinkable for its strength. Lots of things going on here, I like this style. Tart fruit flavours and rich stout character make for a nice beer. 2014-02-22

500 mL bottle from the brewery, #1376/1563, served in a branded stem glass. Pours black with a tall, rocky tan head that fades slowly to a thin remnant and leaves a small amount of fine lace. The nose has big notes of sour cherry and green apple, along with roasted malts and dark chocolate. The flavour is moderately dry and slightly sour up front, becoming a bit more sour towards the end. Notes of coffee, chocolate, roasted malts and subtle smoke pair nicely with the sour fruit. It closes out with a long, sour fruit finish with just a touch of roasted malt. On the palate, it is medium in body with a dry texture and average carbonation. Overall, this is a nice sour stout that effectively balances two distinct flavour profiles while retaining each. Well done. 2014-01-18

Bottle 500ml. Pours black (very dark brown) with low beige head. Good lacing. Aroma is of chocolate, vanilla, roasted malt, fruits. Taste is of fruits, sourness, slight acid, some roasted malt, sugar. Alcohol (not well hidden). Palate: Medium body. Overall: "ok". Not a "style" I enjoy that much. Too much alcohol. Decent.

Nice balanced. Well crafted.

Brown pour with a tan head. The aroma is a mix of chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor is similar with some watery chocolate and roasted malt coming through strongly. There is also a light amount of dark fruit. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. If this wasn’t listed as a sour I would have had no idea it was supposed to be sour, because I got no sour notes in the flavor or aroma.

Bottled May 15th. Very little aroma. Smells like sour chocolate wine if that makes sense. Taste of roast and chocolate up front. In the transition to a near lambic level sourness there is a vinious quality that emerges. The sour ending has a lot of complexity as you keep drinking. This includes funky cheese and vinegar. Sour and bitter dark chocolate aftertaste lingers. Overall I think the sour beasties take over this beer a bit too much, bit still a unique pleasurable brew.
