The result of a collaboration brew done late in the fall of 2012 with Evil Twin Brewing (Denmark & Brooklyn). This stout was soured in barrels by an army of wee beasties over a period of 6 months. The resulting beer pairs natural acidic and tart fruit flavors with roasted malts. Mighty tasty. Draft 8.7% ABV, bottles refermented and 9.2% ABV

Bottle 500ml. Pours black (very dark brown) with low beige head. Good lacing. Aroma is of chocolate, vanilla, roasted malt, fruits. Taste is of fruits, sourness, slight acid, some roasted malt, sugar. Alcohol (not well hidden). Palate: Medium body. Overall: "ok". Not a "style" I enjoy that much. Too much alcohol. Decent.

Bottle (500 ml). Thanks to Sammy for this one. Dark brown wit a small beige head and little lacing. Aroma is of milk chocolate, vanilla, roasted malt and light fruitiness. Taste is of roasted malt, light to moderate sourness (that is not really present in the aroma), milk chocolate and vanilla. Alcohol is well hidden. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Good dark Sour. Nice balanced. Well crafted.

Brown pour with a tan head. The aroma is a mix of chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor is similar with some watery chocolate and roasted malt coming through strongly. There is also a light amount of dark fruit. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. If this wasn’t listed as a sour I would have had no idea it was supposed to be sour, because I got no sour notes in the flavor or aroma.

Bottled May 15th. Very little aroma. Smells like sour chocolate wine if that makes sense. Taste of roast and chocolate up front. In the transition to a near lambic level sourness there is a vinious quality that emerges. The sour ending has a lot of complexity as you keep drinking. This includes funky cheese and vinegar. Sour and bitter dark chocolate aftertaste lingers. Overall I think the sour beasties take over this beer a bit too much, bit still a unique pleasurable brew.

Way too much carb, dark fruits, tasty roast underneath, but it's hard to appreciate. Even with this open for >2hrs! Decent.

(500ml bottle) dark brown, dark tan bubbles. Nose of chocolate, vinegar in background, Chocolate malt/lactose. Taste of medium dark chocolate, light coffee, date/plum and other dark fruit. Well carbonated, peaty linger and a little smoky.

Bottle. Pours dark with a half-inch tan head. Roasty aroma with sour cherry/berry notes. Taste is sour cherry and roasted grains - yum. The first sour imperial stout I’ve ever had, and it makes me want more. Great stuff!

Une bière moyennement sûre qui se cache derrière une stout vivement torréfiée et rôtie. Des notes de petits fruits et de fûmée se faufilent également pour mener vers une buvabilité acceptable.

Tasted a small sample at a BeerThief gathering. Brown/black in colour with a tan head. The aroma is cherry and coffee. Feel is somehow dry but creamy. Very full feel. Great taste of sour and stout. Great beer.

Bottle - Dark roast malts, oak and some sour berry. Jet black with thin brown head. First sour stout I have ever liked. Dark roast, berry, barrel and sourness. Brilliant.
