4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 rwgould (299) - Vancouver, British Columbia, - SEP 30, 2012650ml bottle from the brewery. Served in a trappist glass. Pours transparent orange-brown, small white head, medium visible carbonation. Aroma: Grapes, plums, lemon, banana, cinnamon, cloves. Super fruity. Palate: Medium bodied, syrupy, smooth, fairly fizzy, tart finish. Taste: Very sweet, slightly dry finish. Hints of sourness throughout, getting strong in the end. Really well balanced. Not super dry like most tripels, and the sourness is quite pleasant but not overpowering.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 TheJester (1460) - Peterborough, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 3, 2013
On tap at Volo, if I recall correctly. The day after they did some kinda sour beer thing. Anyhow, translucent orange-brown with a mediumish white head. Sour but appealing aroma had oak, booze, orchard fruit, brown sugar and grapes. Flavour kinda muddled all of those things together, including the sweetness. This is another of those sweet&sour sours. Booze results in a nice body. Definitely worth trying again.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 mabel (5043) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 30, 2012
[4794-20120920] Tap. Yeasty sourdough bread aroma. Slightly hazy, orange brown body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white head. Sour yeasty cookie dough flavour has a lingering yeasty aftertaste. Medium body. Interesting, might be a little young, certainly easy-drinking. (6/3/6/3/14) 3.2

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Boutip (3971) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 10, 2012
Bottle: Poured a hazy dirty beige color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of vinous notes with light tart notes and some funk notes. Taste is also dominated by more funk then expected with some tart and vinous notes. Plums are quite hard to distinguish and somehow get lost in the mix. Body is quite full with great carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Good sour with nice level of complexity while retaining some drinkability.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 rederic (2559) - montréal, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 31, 2012
On tap at the brewpub, amber color, with a white head, nice yeasty, fruity, malty, wet woody, vanilla nose, with a sweet and sour, winey, faint funk bretty accent, and a light candied lemon peel, faint wheat, pale malt acidic note in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a warmth good sweet honeyed toasted, pale, wheat malty, woody, winey character with some vanilla oakiness, caramelized sweet and sour yellow plum flavours, leading towards an earthy musty fruity, honeyed maltiness, sour, vanilla oakiness finish.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 fiulijn (12179) - Malmö, DENMARK - OCT 28, 2012
Draught at the brewpub Cloudy amber color, with medium sized creamy head. The aroma of malt is a bit woody, fruity, with delicate vanilla and flowers touch. Smooth mouthfeel; some malt flavor, light fruity and vinous touch, maybe very light vanilla; correct bitterness. I believe that beers with a different malt profile should be wine barrel aged; this kind of tartness clashes with the spicy malt. A bit over the top.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 ontbeermaker (1832) - Ontario, CANADA - OCT 27, 2012
UPDATED: MAR 2, 2013 Bottle, pours a nice light brown, a bit cloud, aroma is a nice funk, the flavour is nice and full, lots of sour notes, not overly sour but it is a bit fruity, a really nice sour
This one doesnt appear to age well, the booze comes out a lot more and a lot of the flavours appear to have faded.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 LilBeerDoctor (2816) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 26, 2012
On tap at the brewpub. Pours a cloudy orange with a thin white head. Aroma of oak barrel, lemon, light fruits, bready malt. Flavor of oak barrel, grape, liquor, plum, citrusy hops with bitter hops and sweet plum in the finish. It doesn’t taste wild or funky as the description suggests, just barrel aged. It reminds me a lot of Captain Lawrence Golden Delicious. Very unique and delicious, my favorite offering from Bellwoods.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 jercraigs (6477) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 7, 2012
2012-09-20. Lightly hazy golden dark amber body, small off-white head. 3+ Fairly woody aroma with a bit of alcohol, musty notes, mild fruit and vinous notes. 7+ Flavour is similar, modest woody quality hits at vanilla/tannins, but pleasantly so - less rough than some barrel aged beers. Mild fruity vinous like character, sweet white wine? 7+ Smooth average plus palate. 3+ Pretty nice, very nuanced. Volo Funk Night, Toronto
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 neongolden (166) - Ontario, CANADA - OCT 4, 2012
(On draught at the brewpub, Sept 28 2012) Pours a clear amber with a fluffy white head that left lacing. Aroma very complex: sour plum aroma definitely present but not overpowering, woody barrel, grape, banana and clove esters, citrus, light funk. Flavour brings the plums to the fore, definitely sour, some candy sugar sweetness, light wine grape, funky hay, slightly buttery like a barrel-aged Chardonnay, a little vanilla, finishes sour and a bit bitter as well. Body medium-full, soft active carbonation, alcohol mostly hidden. So complex, well-balanced sweet/sour/funky/bitter, delicious riot of fruity flavours and barrel characters. Superb sour, needed another the next day!
