The make-or-breaker 10th rate. Very dark brown with gold highlights. Big aromas of dark fruit with some cocoa and even hints of coffee. Taste is very different with short dark bready grains, = a very house-y style for BW. Very herbal-dry and grainy/hop palate is refreshing. A note of raspberry emerges late.

Pours hazy mahogany with a bubbly cream head. Aroma is of dried fruit, toasted malt, with some clean yeast notes. Taste is of caramel and toast, with a hint of coffee toward the end. Lightly hopped, medium carbonation, and medium body. Nicely balanced brown ale that isn’t too heavy.

Pours brown with little head or lacing. Nose is fruity with some yeast. Aromas of nuts, fruit, yeast and some light earthy hop notes in the finish. Tastes are light sweet, light bitter and a very faint sour hint. Body is very light. Not my favourite effort from this typiclly solid brewery.

650 ml bottle from the brewery. Pours a lightly hazed rubyish brown with small eggshell-coloured head. Aroma is yeasty sour fruit note, caramel and nuts. Flavour is slightly sour fruit, sweet caramel, some yeasty funk, nuttiness and gentle earthy bitterness. Finish is fairly dry. Interesting and quite drinkable.

Draught at Bar Hop Customer Appreciation Night, Jan. 31. Pours a murky reddish-brown with a spare diminishing frothy tan head. Aroma of caramel malt, light vegetal notes, dark fruit and yeast. Flavour of caramel malt, nuts, very light hops and dark fruit. Average to medium bodied. A tad disappointing, I didn’t much care for this, not sure why.

[4863-20121013] Cask. Twangy floral pine hops aroma. Slightly hazy, dark reddish brown body with a quick foamy white head. Light bitter mould hops flavour has a hint of red wine features. Medium body has a good mild bitter base. Good, drinkable. (7-/3/7/3/15) 3.5

2012-10-13. Dark brown, mahogany accented body with a small beige head. 3+ Modest aroma, pleasant fruit notes have a bit of a tangy quaity to it, pleasantly so. Just a bit of a funky quality to it. 7+ Flavour is similar, tangy fruity character, light bitterness, just a touch of farmy (? can’t read this!) funk. 7+ Smooth average plus bodied palate. 3+ Decent. Cask at Pre-Cask Days Event, Bellwoods, Toronto

Cask, pours a nice reddish brown, aroma is a sweet. It has a yeasty feel to it and a its got lots of dark fruits, similar to a dubbel for me. It has a sweet finish, it was a nice offering
