2014/01/14 - Pours an opaque, dark brown cola colour with a two-finger, fizzy, khaki coloured head that quickly reduces to a lasting surface film. Aroma is toasted/smokey malts, chocolate and sour brett funk (lemon and cranberries?). Taste is lemon, smokey malts, mild chocolate notes and a sweet and sour acidic aftertaste. Mouthfeel is medium, with lively carbonation and a tart, drying finish. Interesting mix that plays well together. Well done. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Very well done, the additional beasties gave it a cherry winey character. Rich and great. A good integration with porter.

500 mL bottle at the brewery, served in a stem glass. Pours black with a small tan head that fades to a thin rim and leaves a small amount of fine lace. The nose has notes of cherry, sour fruit, roast malts and a touch of smoke. The flavour starts out dry and roasty with a nice porteresque feel, but it soon acquires a moderate tartiness with sour fruit, Brett funk, oak and earth come through as well, but the fruit dominates. The finish is long and oaky, with sour fruit, apple cider, earth and roasty malts. On the palate, it is medium-full in body with a smooth milky texture and soft carbonation. Overall, a decent sour porter, but not the most complex. 2014-04-08

Bottle from the brewery.
Pours a deep black with a big frothy brown head. Smells of plum, brett and some chocolate. Tastes awesome. There’s a pleasant sourness with some sweet malt character balancing it out. Enjoyable. 2014-03-27

Nice one. Pours black hint of amber on the edges, lost so foamy lacing and tons of lacing. Nose is sour and some roasted malt. Notes of espresso, tart cherries, yeast and dark fruit. Taste is light/medium sweet, light/medium tart and light bitter. Body is lighter than I would prefer with lively carbonation.

500mL bottle, pours a deep dark brown with a small brown head. Aroma brings out sour fruits, brett, and oak. Flavour brings out tart fruits, brett, cocoa, and tart malts. Pretty interesting experiment. Finishes on sour dark cocoa notes. Decent stuff.

500 ml bottle courtesy of Sammy. Thanks. Pours an opaque black color with a medium tan head that has fair retention. The aroma is distinctly sour with funky brett and sour grapes. The taste, unlike the aroma, features chocolates in the forefront and they are sour chocolates mind you. Completing the taste experience is coffee, mocha, tobbacco, leather and dark fruits. The palate is full and smooth with prickly carbonation. Finishes long and dry. Overall: Creating a sour Baltic porter seems like a long shot, but those magicians at Bellwoods have pulled it off, this works and works well. My hats off to Sammy for sending me this gem.

Very pleasant beer. Nice black body that has a foamy head when poured. The flavour is thinner than the appearance would suggest, but it works for this beer. As does the carbonation level. It is more carbonate than I would usually prefer any beer to be, but for this, somehow, it works well. The sourness/tartness is very well integrated with the dark malts as well.

Bottle from brewery. Pours black with a thin tan head. Aroma is tart with dry vinegar. Taste is very tart and dry, with sour fruits, and roasty notes. Sweet enough to fight the brett. Tasty!

Super sour aroma, brett, green apples mixed with a dark malt character. Really really nice. Black with a long lasting brown head. Quite tasty, but with with less sour character than noticeable on the nose. Upfront some chocolately malts mixed with a lemon-like zing, finishes with more acidic notes and a sweetness and dark malt character. Quite nice, just not that well integrarted flavors. Fairly light bodied and highly carbonated. Pretty good beer.
