This extremely dark and complex beer has intense aromas and flavours of malt, burnt chocolate, dark fruit, fresh earth and vanilla. A portion will be aged and released next year.

pours oily almost black with a very nice and reviving crema head, good retention and lacing. burnt malts, strong bitter chocolate and pure bitter cacao, roasted molasses, coffee - creamy latté - just a hint of lactose, very smoky, licorice, spices, blackberries, roasted acidity, pinch of dirt. moderate to low carbonation, medium to full body - oily, a bit sticky, grassy-resinous-bitter coffee-smoky finish. creamy and smooth mouthfeel. complex and very tasty. loved it!

January 18, 2014. 500mL bottle from Bellwoods bottle shop. Cherries and chocolate on the nose. Lovely lacing; very dark in colour. Touch of sharpness, as expected from an imperial stout. Quite nice.

Love this. Pours oily black with an initial froth light brown head and quite a bit of spotty lacing. Nose is espresso, roasted grain and molasses. Notes of all those as well as bitter chocolate, some dark fruit. Tastes are heavy/med sweet and heavy/medium bitter. Pretty thick oily mouthfeel with lively carbonation. Really nice beer!

Pours oil slick dark with a disappointing one centimetre cap. Despite the limp size, the head is interesting in that it starts a deep dr pepper red & settles into a wet sawdust brown. Taste is loud & proud, with all the elements in the favour profile turned up to 10. And that’s part of its challenge: there’s a lack of balance here that lowers its standing in the race for the most interesting local imp stout. Still pretty damn good.

2013/11/19 - Pours an opaque black colour, with a thick, frothy, tan head that reduces quickly to a lingering surface film. Aroma is toasted, smokey malts, dark fruit, bitter chocolate and vanilla. Taste is toasted malts, cocoa, coffee and dark fruits. Mouthfeel is thick and oily with low carbonation and a bitter, slightly warming finish. Nice imperial stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle - Dark roast malts, dark fruit and some bitter chocolate. Jet black with a creamy brown head that disperses quickly. Dark roast, chocolate, coffee and some dark fruit. There is a nice bitterness that cuts through to the finish. A really nice complex RIS.

Tasted a small sample at a BeerThief gathering. Beer is black and very leggy. Nice hop aroma as well as the solid good roast, but not really much chocolate. Taste is all roast and some coffee very late. The finish is a very good dry, but with an edge to it. Another fine Imperial Stout from Bellwoods.

From Cask Days tent at Beau’s Oktoberfest 2013, Vankleek Hill. A ruby reddish tinted black with a short lived beige head. Aroma is molasses, chocolate. Flavor is big dirty chocolate, bitter cocoa, dark coffee, burnt caramel. Lots of bitterness in the finish. Quite noticeable. Lingering burnt caramel, dark coffee, extra dark chocolate flavors. Thick body, oily, thick mouthfeel, null carbonation. Great.

On cask at Beau’s Octoberfest. Midnight black with no head. Licorice, chocolate, alcohol, moderate amount of hops. Full body, viscous, low carbonation, smooth, quite bitter, long finish. Tasty but quite alocholic.
