2014-07-23. Crisp dark yellow body with a small white head. Aroma is modest, fruity, light grass and citrus notes. Flavour is fruity, muted citrus, grassy notes in the finish. Moderate bitterness throughout. Average bodied palate, modest carbonation. Enjoyable, I liked it more than expected as I am not always a fan of Sorachi Ace. Bottle from the brewery, Toronto

Bottle, via trade-- thanks Jeremy! Bright yellow, very hazy, with a towering meringue of a head that persists beautifully. Pale crackery malts showcase the Sorachi Ace hop beautifully-- funky, earthy, grassy, loads of hop character. Extremely balanced, so drinkable! I thoroughly enjoyed this on my deck in the 30-degree heat.

500ml bottle from Bellwoods. Pours clouded, pale yellow with slight sediment, and a glad finger, off white head that leaves ok lacing. Aroma is interesting. Hoppy but unlike any beer Iíve had. Floral but with some spice and herbal notes. Taste is mildly bitter with a flavours to match the aroma. Herbal with slight spice and a lingering aftertaste I canít place. Medium body and carbonation. Fairly clean in the mouth. Overall an interesting beer. A lot of flavours going on that I canít quite place. Taste but interesting.

Thanks to my sis for muling this home for me. Pours light straw with a small white head. Aroma is intense citrus zest and a little dill. Taste is a blast of citrus and orange hop bitterness with a small straw malt backing. Very enjoyable but you better like Sorachi.

500mL bottle, courtesy of wilco (thanks a lot, Mike), pours a hazy light golden with a medium white head. Aroma brings out lots of floral hops, zesty citrus notes, and biscuity malt. Flavour is very much the same, bringing out biting floral hops, some zesty grassy hops, and a dry crisp biscuity malt. Very crisp and dry, with amazing drinkability. Wonderful pale ale.

Pours mellow yellow with a plush one finger pure as snow cap. The nose is curious & inviting. Flavour is intriguing: I get citrus, dill, slight peppering, and a vague grassiness. A really good brew on a sunny subday afternoon a week before Spring. This is the sleeper hit of my recent visit to Bellwoods.

Pale golden pour with a thick white head. The nose is great - subdued spiciness and a nice zesty fruitiness as well. There is a sort of kiwi-like character and a touch of peppery flavour. There is a little bit of lean crackery pale malt as well. Thereís a great zestiness here that I love. Another great beer in a great series.

500 mL bottle from the brewery, served in a branded snifter. Pours slightly hazy straw-golden with a tall, fluffy white head that fades to a thin cover and leaves a small amount of fine lace. The nose has huge notes of grass and straw, along with pepper, spice, some pine and a hint of citrus. The flavour is slightly dry with pale malts, grass, a citric note and flowers. The finish is medium in length and somewhat spicy with some citrus. On the palate it is light in body with a dry texture and average carbonation. Overall, this is a fairly one-dimensional Sorachi pale ale, but one that nonetheless allows the hop to be appreciated in isolation. 2014-03-07
