Love the idea behind the Monogamy beers. Bellwoods is giving us a clear shot at what weíre tasting I like that. I also learned that I donít like Summit Hops. Wondered what that weird, what I called, off flavour, was in this or that beer. Apparently itís was Summit. Good to know. So it poured golden and clear with some white head which reduces to nothing. The nose is lots of resin and a touch of pine. Similar notes on the taste, the resin hops is a little like a overly warm-brewed off flavours. I didnít love this beer. But thatís okay Iíve learned something too. Iíll look forward to the next Monogamy and the new Bellwoods location, congrats! Thanks!

On tap at the brewery. A lightly cloudy straw gold. Big resinous, oily weed aroma - pungent. The taste is very savoury, incredibly herbal almost oregano and resinous weed flavor. Supremely balanced.

On tap at Bellwoods. Pours a hazy, light yellow with a half finger, white head that paces well. Aroma is interesting. Notes of bread, herbal grass, and almost an onion. Taste is balanced but a touch bitter. Pungent earthy/herbal mixed with toasted bread, and almost a savory ending. Medium-full body with a medium carbonation. Pretty clean mouth feel with a soft carbonation and semi-dry finish. Overall a nice addition to the monogamy line up. Flavours of bread and herbal/earth. Almost savory.

I love the monogamy series cuz it gives me a great opportunity to educate myself on the diversity of hop juice while cultivating a buzz. Too bad school wasnít like this (actually, I tend to teach a lot of buzzed students come to think of it). Anyways. Pours deep lemon with a a half finger pure white mushy cap. Such an interesting hop when experienced solo: bitter, grassy, slightly herbal, vaguely ganja-like. You can see why they use summit in IPAs & pale ales. The great thing here is the quaffable nature of this brew, the sharp bite of the carbonation & the bright nature of the flavour profile. Shave that ridiculous moustache, stop listening to indie rock & dump that session ipa trendiness: this works as a great session beer (just donít look at the abv).

Bottle from the brewery. Hzy pale gold with small white head that fades to a sheet leaving fine lace. Big citrusy and lemon nose with hints of flowers and pepper. Light sweet malt front that balances the moderately bitter and lightly spicy middle. Lots of grapefruit, lemon and resin in a medium dry finish. Mouth is on the light side of medium with active carbonation. Quite enjoyable single hop.

500 mL bottle from the brewery, served in a stem glass. Pours hazy straw-golden with a moderate white head that fades to a thin remnant and leaves a moderate amount of fine lace. The nose has big notes of grapefruit peel and spice, along with pale malts and a subtle herbal quality. The flavour is quite dry throughout with a moderate hoppy bitterness up front with grapefruit peel and lemon. A peppery spiciness picks up through the middle along with the bitterness. It closes out with a long, dry and bitter finish with pepper notes. On the palate it is light-medium in body with a dry, slightly astringent texture and average carbonation. Overall, a nice pale ale with an interesting bitter quality, but it seems too simple to stand along as the sole hop. 2014-07-30

A golden ale with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, biscuit malt with grassy floral hops, light catty and sulfur notes. In mouth, a good crisp biscuit malt with pungent grassy floral hops, light sulfur and funk, very nice.

In short: A bright blond IPA pushing forward superb freshness quality. Simple and excellent.
How: Bottle 650ml, consumed relatively fresh, a little over one month after bottling date, bottle sent to me by blankboy, thanks a lot Paul.
The look: Partly cloudy yellow blond body topped by a persistent small white head.
In long: Pleasant very bright nose that is somewhere between citrusy hops and lemongrass with some perfumy notes (flower petals). In mouth the beer offers a medium body and a tickling carbonation with many small bubbles. Pleasant malt backone with a clean and crisp crunchy cereals flavors, light honey notes, discreet residual sugars, fresh puffy pastry sensation. Then the bright (very bright) hops proposing white grapefruits, lemon zest, tangerines, lemongrass, a some resinous notes. Very clean, very bright and with an overall freshness sensation that usually donít get from bottled beers. Scarily drinkable. Give this beer a more cushiony mouthfeel and it could pass as a Hill Farmstead IPA. An excellent beer to celebrate a birthday, not mine, a strangerís birthday, we donít know each other, his name might be Gary, I donít know.
