COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our take on the classic German hefeweizen style. Bright yellow with lots of haze, this refreshing wheat beer was dry-hopped with Amarillo and Simcoe to create citrusy aromatics alongside classic banana notes. Effervescent with a pleasing dry finish. Pilot versions were called "Hoppy Hefeweizen".

A murky blonde weizen with a thick frothy lacing white head. In aroma, a nice fragrant hopped up banana weizen wirh light sulfur, catty floral hops, very nice. In mouth, a smooth fragrant weizen with fruity esters, grassy catty hops, well balanced.

From a 500 ml bottle. Very cloudy bright yellow pour with a thick fluffy white head. The aroma is of incredibly juicy citrusy hops. A lot of tropical mango and a little bit of peppery/noble spiciness as well. Fairly light esters but a touch of bubble gum and some lingering fruitiness. Really inviting aroma - bright fruit and juicy citrus with some nice wheaty character as well. It’s got a solid balance of hops and yeast. A really great take on the style - I could drink this all day long.

500mL bottle, courtesy of beerhugger (thanks Steve), pours a cloudy yellow with a large white head. Aroma is oxidized, with feint notes of wheat and citrus. Flavour brings out cardboard, wheat and faded banana. This is way past its prime. Would’ve been good, but this is too old.

Draught at the brewpub. Pours a hazy yellow with an average size diminishing frothy white head. Pleasant light aroma of citrus hops, light herbs, wheat and grain. Really nice, refreshing flavour of wheat, citrusy hops, citrus fruit, light herbs and an average dry, bitter finish. Average bodied. A great summer-sipper and a joy to drink. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On draught at Bar Hop. Very hazy/cloudy light yellow. Very small drool of white head. Pungently grassy aroma, not a lot of sweetness. Taste follows - holy crap that’s bitter, only vaguely hefe-like, more like an ultra dry wit noble hopped to the max. Light body, very astringent, moderately carbonated, longish grassy coating finish. Lively brew.

In short: A hefeweizen for the lovers of aromatic fruity new-breed of blonde IPAs.
How: Bottle, consumed moderately fresh, bottle sent to me by
The look: Cloudy yellow body topped by a medium white head.
In long: The powerful hoppy nose is bursting with aromatic fresh tropical fruits, grapefruits and some flowery notes. I didn’t get the hefe part from the nose, smelled to me like a highly aromatic new-breed blonde IPA. In mouth the beer has a nice mouthfeel with a good corpulence, a chewy texture and plenty of soft bubbles. Taste has nice banana cake, wheat, a whole lot of hops blending musky character with fresh tropical fruits. All that ends with an assertive bitterness with mild resinous notes. The flavor profile is a lot more aligned with the unofficial White IPA style rather than the current ratebeer style of German Hefeweizen, and I happen to love White IPAs. Another winner from Bellwoods. Sometimes I drink a good 5% session ale like this one knowing fully well that it is 95% water and I start thinking about how good it would be if it was 100% beer.
