COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our take on the classic German hefeweizen style. Bright yellow with lots of haze, this refreshing wheat beer was dry-hopped with Amarillo and Simcoe to create citrusy aromatics alongside classic banana notes. Effervescent with a pleasing dry finish. Pilot versions were called "Hoppy Hefeweizen".

UPDATED: MAY 17, 2013 Draft - Hay, lemon, honey and a little farmhouse funk. Hazy yellow with a thin white head. Crazy hops and the sweetness of the yeast remind me of a Deschutes experimental I once had. Love it completely.

Juicy citruisy hops predominate on the nose of this one, with a slight sour note and a bit of pine. Not getting many fruity esters, but smells great. Hazy white, more yellow than average for a hefeweizen. Great amount of juicy hops upfront, some pine and a little bit of a flat finish. Very clean and refreshing. Light-medium bodied and quite highly carbonated. Perfect for the warm weather. Overall, hop/yeast profile very similar to a Bellwoods Monogamy, which is definately not a bad thing.

From a 500 ml bottle. Very cloudy bright yellow pour with a thick fluffy white head. The aroma is of incredibly juicy citrusy hops. A lot of tropical mango and a little bit of peppery/noble spiciness as well. Fairly light esters but a touch of bubble gum and some lingering fruitiness. Really inviting aroma - bright fruit and juicy citrus with some nice wheaty character as well. Itís got a solid balance of hops and yeast. A really great take on the style - I could drink this all day long.

2013/04/26 - Pours a hazy bright yellow with a soapy white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is citrus (lemon and grapefruit), floral hops, pine and slight yeast. Taste is lots of citrus up front with an astringent, hoppy an pine aftertaste. Body is medium and effervescent with lots of carbonation and a drying finish. Great summer beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

In short: A hefeweizen for the lovers of aromatic fruity new-breed of blonde IPAs.
How: Bottle, consumed moderately fresh, bottle sent to me by
The look: Cloudy yellow body topped by a medium white head.
In long: The powerful hoppy nose is bursting with aromatic fresh tropical fruits, grapefruits and some flowery notes. I didnít get the hefe part from the nose, smelled to me like a highly aromatic new-breed blonde IPA. In mouth the beer has a nice mouthfeel with a good corpulence, a chewy texture and plenty of soft bubbles. Taste has nice banana cake, wheat, a whole lot of hops blending musky character with fresh tropical fruits. All that ends with an assertive bitterness with mild resinous notes. The flavor profile is a lot more aligned with the unofficial White IPA style rather than the current ratebeer style of German Hefeweizen, and I happen to love White IPAs. Another winner from Bellwoods. Sometimes I drink a good 5% session ale like this one knowing fully well that it is 95% water and I start thinking about how good it would be if it was 100% beer.

Bottle from the brewery. Pours a cloudy bright sunshine-yellow with a large and pillowy white head. Pungent aroma of citrus peel, pineapple, musky hops and lemon oil. Flavour of lychee, lemon peel, pine, unsweetened grapefruit, and a hint of white pepper. Body is crisp with a clean and dry/bitter finish. As others have noted, there ainít much hefe-ish about this beer, but itís so bright and tasty that Iím happy to overlook that and give it a great rating anyway.

A murky blonde weizen with a thick frothy lacing white head. In aroma, a nice fragrant hopped up banana weizen wirh light sulfur, catty floral hops, very nice. In mouth, a smooth fragrant weizen with fruity esters, grassy catty hops, well balanced.

Bottle from brewery. Hazy yellow pour. High delicate carbonation, marshmallow white head. Aroma is tropical fruit, orange, grapefruit, yeast, banana, a little pepper and floral notes. Delightful. A little chalky, medium sweetness on the body. Refreshing citrus bitterness on the finish. Itís generally light an refreshing with a lovely balanced complexity. Very nice variation on a classic style.

Hazy gold pour, good lacing. Juicy hoppy aroma. Interesting balance of dank hops, lemon, yeast, banana, wheat, and pepper with the hops winning out. Works for me! Lighter body, lively carbonation. I could drink this all summer.
