Bottle from brewery. Pours somewhat cloudy orange with limited head lots of frothy lacing. Nose is reasonably quiet, fruity and grassy. Flavours of peach, light grapefruit, some pine, some dust. Taste med bitter light sweet. Full body with medium carbonation and a pretty agressive bitterness that lasts awhile.

Pale amber with white head. The aroma is very tropical. Some mango and juicy fruit along with some grassy/zesty notes. Brightly zesty and delicious. Assertively hopped but well balanced. There is just a touch of malt flavour but it’s nice and lean.

Hazy golden-orange body medium sized white head and soapy lacing. Tangerine, grapefruit, pine, earthy resin, nice minerality, and subtle pale malts. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation, lively bitterness, clean, dry finish.

Pours pale amber with two fingers of fluffy white head diminishing gradually to a thick cap, moderate lacing (4/5). Nose is hop heavy, resin, pine, citrus, with a muted caramel malt background (8/10). Taste is low sweetness and moderate to strong bitter, growing pepperiness (8/10). Light body, moderate sustained carbonation, lingering bitter finish (5/5). I’m liking this a lot. Mind you, it’s been, what, at least a week since I had a nice hoppy IPA? (Correction - my last APA was two weeks ago, and my last true A/IPA, almost a month! No wonder I’m liking this so much!) Lovely resin and piney hops from the instant the cap comes off the bottle, and the taste follows through, hop forward with just enough caramel malt to support the hoppy bitterness, without getting in the way. Kind of reminds me of the Phillips Bottle Rocket in that it’s light, easy drinking and crisp, while delivering a whole lot of hoppy goodness. (Although the Roman Candle has a much higher ABV, it’s completely integrated and doesn’t appear at all in the taste or the finish.) I’m rating this identically to the Bellwoods Boogie Monster, but for slightly different reasons. (17/20)

Working my way, gratefully, through Bellwoods’ brews. Pours a slightly cloudy golden amber with a bit of white head. Not surpriasingly this IPA’s nose is all about the hops, citrus and resin, with a little pine. You also get the hay malts in there but they really take a back seat. The taste of the beer is also heavy on the hops, but not overwhelming. Some hoppy bitterness, resin and pine. Softer malts support the beer. Bitter aftertaste. Overall good job.

500ml bottle in a stem glass. Pours hazy amber with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma of citrusy and resinous and lightly piney hops, some pale and caramel malts, and some dough. The flavor has a lot of hop bitterness and slightly too many malts, and I think that takes away slightly from the citra hops. Average texture. Still a really cool beer.

Bottle thanks to Ontbeertaster! Pours a pretty clear golden with a small white head that leaves nice lacing. Nose is of cat pee and onion, some pine. Taste is lightly sweet and bitter to a medium-high level. Salty? Salty. Flavors of pine, citrus and peppery alcohol. Body is medium, carbonation a little more than that. Bitterness lingers for a long while but is never harsh. Overall a nice IPA but I’d prefer it if there were less onions and cat pee.

Bottle to tulip Fruit, cat urine, spruce, and pine. Muddy amber with a thin creamy off white head. Taste is primarily pine and spruce and ending with a hoppy bitterness.

Bottle from the Bellwoods bottle shop. Pours a hazy orange with a bubbly white head. Nose is strong tropical fruits with a lot of fresh bread and gras. Floral and slightly piney hops aromas. Taste is melon, grapefruit, almost banana, a little candy, grassy with a good backbone of sweet caramel malts. Moderate bittereness that stays in the mouth for quite a while. Silky mouthfeel. Perfectly balanced. One of the best IPA’s in Ontario!

Bottle from the brewery, 6.8% served in a wine glass, it has a wonderfully balanced hop bouquet earthy woodsy herbal my sister says it has a bit of a stinky cheese quality to it and after she said it I could see it. The taste is a sweet balance between the malts and hops great tasty stuff my family loved it.
