3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Foggy ’old gold’ look, creamy white head typical of BW. Wafting of citrus and weed from the hops which play strongly into taste. Bitter grassy palate, solid malt yet not sticky, led out by looong fresh hop finish.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
In short: A sharp citric/grapefruity pale IPA. Tasty and refreshing west-coast style IPA.
How: Bottle 500ml, consumed a few days after receiving it from blankboy, thanks a lot Paul.
The look: Slightly cloudy blonde-amber body topped by a medium white head leaving lots of lacings on the glass.
In long: The hoppy nose of medium-high intensity is citrusy hops (mostly white grapefruits) along with some freshly cut pine tree and floral notes. An aroma that feels bright and fresh. In mouth the beer feels slender and with a tickling carbonation of many hard little bubbles. There is sufficient malts in this beer to provide adequate support but this is an IPA for hop lovers (like me) so the bready/crackery pale malts do not contribute much to the over flavor spectrum other than a light sweet puffy pastry-like flavor. Description says it uses some rye but I didn’t pick it up. Hop dominated with very assertive bitter grapefruits, juicy tropical fruits, lemons, some floral notes and pine cones. The bitterness is very citric in nature with a certain acidity that is amplified by the hard carbonation. After 10 minutes the carbonation softens-up and the acidity level goes down. Another good IPA from Bellwoods. It is of breweries like Bellwoods that I’m able to keep my sobriety temptations in check.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle fresh from the brewery. Hazy orange pour with a very short lived off white head. Nose has lots of pine and citrus with a good caramel and bread backing. Sweet toffee start is followed by a quite bitter pine middle, though more balanced than the nose. Mouth is medium with very soft carbonation; wondering if this bottle is a little flat. Will rerate if the next bottle shows improvement. Great flavour otherwise.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
500ml bottle. Hazy light amber colour, moderate head. Floral and pine aromas. Mostly floral hops in the taste, malt was very light, almost bubblegum sweet. Lighter body. Overall, kind of a odd combination of elements, but it kind of worked.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
My Bottom Line:
Swank sandy hop resins ground this IPA’s citrusy fruitiness while mild caramel flavors undulate underneath.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A fluffy sheet of foam decorates the misty pale amber.
-This didn’t feel as dry as their Monogamy Mosaic, for example.
-Hop bitterness intensity is leveled with that of the flavor profile’s.
On tap at Bar Isabel.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
500mL bottle, sent from wilco (thanks a lot, Mike), pours a hazy copper orange with a small beige head. Nose of crisp biscuity cracker malt, bready notes, and slight grassy hops. Flavour brings out wonderful notes of melon, piney hops and tangerine, backed by some crisp dry biscuity malt. Loads of depth in the hop profile, with a very dry palate, just how I like them. Highly drinkable and thirst-quenching. Excellent IPA.

April 8, 2014. 500mL bottle from bottleshop. Lovely lacing. Rich golden yellow with whitish yellow head. Hoppy, soapy, citrus aromas. Very nicely balanced IPA. Touch of hops, bitter lemon, hint of biscuit.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from the brewery.
Pours a cloudy golden colour with a small white head and lasting lace. Smells of oranges and pineapple. Very drinkable. Lots of fruit and a mild bitterness. Body is a bit rich for a session beer but I’d happy drink this any time. A fine IPA.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
500 mL bottle from the brewery, served in a branded stem glass. Pours clear golden-amber with a small white head that fades quickly to a thin remnant and leaves a small amount of fine lace. The nose has big notes of melon, citrus and pine, along with pale malts. The flavour is balanced between a moderate resinous, fruity hop bitterness and a nice honey-caramel sweetness with lemongrass and a touch of rye spice. The finish is long and moderately bitter with resin and a touch of cattiness. On the palate it is light-medium in body with a dryish texture and soft carbonation. Overall, a nice IPA which pairs resinous hops with a delicate fruity sweetness. 2014-04-06

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
500 ml bottle from the brewery. Pours our on the yellow end of the IPA spectrum. Smells nice, citrus, pine sap, some dankness. Grapefruit and pine come through on the taste. Sugary malt as well. Really easy drinking and balanced. I was expecting something more robust. A good IPA no less.
