On tap at the brewpub. Clear mahogany with minimal head. Flavors are toasted cereals, dried fruits, caramel, chocolate, yeast and bubblegum with earthy and spicy notes. Medium body, soft carbonation, slick texture.

Cloudy brown pour, tan head. What you would expect from a unfiltered double. Nice aroma of sweet roasted malts, a little raisin, a touch of booze and bready yeast. Roasted malts, a decent balance in the sweetness and bitter, some dried fruit - plum and raisin, a little touch of yeast. Excellent showing for a dubbel.

(tap) hazy reddish brown colour with a small brown head; aroma of tobacco, lilies, some dried fruit; rich, balanced flavour with a short sour and longer light bitter finish

500mL bottle, sent from wilco (thanks a lot, Mike), pours an opaque dark mahogany with a medium beige head. Aroma brings ou toasted nuts, dried fruits, and Belgian yeast. Flavour brings out tart dark fruits, Belgian yeast, and toasted nuts. Really well-balanced, with a lightly tart, spicy finish. Good stuff.

Bottle. Pours a true brown, slight ruby hues, good finger of fluffy khaki head, not much lace. Nose is sweet candy and caramel, a little dark fruit. Tastes a touch bitter, malty, a little heat. I’d like to try this on draught.

Bottle from the brewery.
Pours a rich copper with a large lasting white head. Smells of sugar, rye bread and caramel. Tastes of burnt sugar and alcohol. Probably in my bottom three Bellwoods beers. 2014-04-04

Deep mahogany pour with a frothing off-white cap that quickly gives up its ghost. This is my first pull from my box from the brewery’s bottle shop. What you get here is a boozy & heavy carbonated interpretation of the style. Very enjoyable brew. Figs, spice & marmalade on the tongue. Love the label design. Dig my crazy pic of bottle & panther on this page.

Spab (2723) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - APR 4, 2014
500 ml bottle from brewery retail store. Pours a hazy caramel colour with decent-sized, lasting light beige head. Aroma is candied fruits, dark dried fruit and caramel. Flavour is sweet and fruity with candy sugar, caramel, raisins/dates and even a little banana. Body is lighter than I would have anticipated. Very drinkable.

neuromatt (1225) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 30, 2014
500 mL bottle from the brewery, served in a branded stem glass. Pours clear mahogany with a small tan head that fades to a thin remnant and leaves a small amount of fine lace. The nose has notes of dates, bananas, berries, caramel and subtle spice. The flavour is medium sweet up front but it dries out towards the end. Notes of dates, raisins, caramel, banana, berries and cherry come through, along with a soft spiciness. It closes out with a peppery alcohol note, combined with perhaps chocolate and cherry. The finish is long and malty with fruity notes and a dry texture and soft carbonation. Overall, while it has a nice malt profile, it is a little too alcoholic for my taste. The body is thinner and drier than I would like in a dubbel as well. 2014-03-24

jksipa (483) - Newmarket, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 28, 2014
500ml bottle from the brewery. Deep hazy brown pour with a big tan head that settles slowly. Nose is earthy yeast, caramel and toast with some light dark fruit and spice. Taste is sweet caramel and dried fruit and banana with quite a bit of spice appearing at the end. Medium slick mouth mouth with active carbonation.
