My Bottom Line:
Cushy cereals and spicy hop fruitiness gel from aroma to finish in this charming quencher.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A creamy head of foam sits atop the cloudy pale amber.
-For a moment there, I got the impression I was drinking a brew from a Franconian countryside brewery that had discovered the potential beauty of US hop varieties. The hop dosage, high drinkability, and fluffy, natural smoothness were all reminiscent
-The flavor profile is balanced throughout.
-These flavors might not be super refined, but they are bright enough to be engaging.
-If I were in the Toronto area, I would probably make this my go-to brew.
-The frothy, soft carbonation and slender sugars make for a friendly mouthfeel.

500 ml bottle. Pours a light golden yellow with a meringue like white head and a little bit of yeast haze from the bottom of the pour. Aromas of pine, pineapple, and pepper. Gentle pine, grapefruit, and pepper. Chalky, medium carbonation, and a fairly lengthy astringent finish.

500 mL bottle from the brewery, served in a branded stem glass. Pours clear yellow-golden with a small, white head that fades to a thin remnant and leaves a small amount of fine lace. The nose has notes of pine, soft citrus, pineapple and grass, with a hint of pale malts. The flavour begins mildly sweet with a touch of bitterness up front and evolves to a moderate piney, citrusy bitterness with a pale malt accent. The finish is medium in length and moderately hoppy with grainy malts coming through. It is light-medium in body with a dryish texture and soft carbonation. Overall, a fairly simple pale ale which is inoffensive, but not terribly interesting. 2014-10-22

500 ml bottle from the brewery bottle shop on October 10, 2014. Light hazy gold, small head. Citrus herb aroma, a bit of tobacco. Very dry orange herb taste, some light sourness, light grapefruit bitterness. You won’t cry wolf with this beer!

It’s Thanksgiving and I’m giving thanks to all the beer I’ve been imbibing. This devil pours a cloudy yellow with a finger that sticks around with a little lacing, which I note is rather different than some of the reviewers I follow, notably Freaky_tiki and jercraigs who a year ago describe an orange-er version of this beer. The nose delivers some resin-pine hops, but not much malt. The taste delivers very similar results, with that pine, hops dominating and the malts really not doing much. Feels a bit thin, but it is a session, but the prominent hops fills it out a bit. It’s alright for a session.

Bottle thanks to Ontbeertaster, thanks Andrew! Pours a lightly (chill?) hazed light golden with a thin white head that leaves fair lacing. Nose is of fruity hops, oranges maybe, amarillo? Taste is of same fruity hops with some pine angles now and only lightly sweet and bitter. Mangoes and peaches, too. Finishes on some grainy notes. Body is light, carbonation medium-high and prickly. Mouthfeel is slightly watery but I believe that it is to be expected and flavorful enough to be forgiven. Overall a fine session ale, can Bellwoods do anything wrong?!

500mL bottle, pours a cloudy pale golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out astringent floral hops and crackery malt. Flavour is exactly the same, with wheaty dry hops and dry crackery malt. Not the most interesting beer from these dudes, but still decent.

Bottle from the brewery. A lovely light copper gold with a nice filmy white head. A clean bready pine aroma. Impressively full bodied with a soft smooth round mouthfeel. The taste has a bitter earthy pine bark hit upfront then tons of fruitiness in the finish:  tangerines, peaches, mango. A wonderfully satisfying session ale.

Bottle (500 ml). From Sammy, thanks! Hazy yellow/orange with a medium white head and good lacing. Aroma is of pineapple, mango, floral notes and almost no malt presence. Taste is also of pineapple, mango, peaches along floral notes, very light malt presence and very light bitterness. Light body (not watery though). Soft carbonation. Slightly oily mouthfeel. Moderately dry finish. A little depth would help, but this is dangerously drinkable.

Bottle from the brewery. Hazy pale orange-yellow with a small white head that fades slowly and leaves some lace. Nose is lemon and grapefruit with light pine and some floral notes. Light sweet caramel and fruit start leading to a moderate bitter grapefruit and light spice middle and a dry finish. Mouth is the light side of medium but not watery with quite active carbonation. Excellent session PA.
