Ungstrup (11930), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 25, 2005 [Cask at Volunteers Arms, GBBF 2004] A hazy brown beer with a light brown head. The aroma is powerful dominated by yeast. The flavor is also powerful with strong notes of yeast, but also caramel and roasted malt, leading to a very bitter end. bierkoning (5134), La Tropica, Netherlands Aug 11, 2003 Cask, GBBF. Amber color. Slight hoparoma. Thin, but with a good deal of hopbitterness. Dry oaky mouthfeel. Fairly long hopbitter finish. Hildigöltur (5055), København Ø, Denmark Mar 2, 2004 [Cask conditioned] Quite boring. There seems to be some kind of unbalance between the sweetness and the bitterness. JorisPPattyn (4691), Antwerpen, Belgium Sep 10, 2007 Cask Transparant, but decent fluffy head, over foxy-amber beer. Bit of caramel, UK hops, dry hop sacks, old hessian. Nutty & caramel flavour, but light & relieved by some good aroma hops added. A bit light for a Best Bitter. Quite some slickness, even sticky, caramel ending. Light bodied, but nice, invitingly tasting bitter. jbrus (4350), Delft, Netherlands Oct 12, 2007 Cask@Proeflokaal. Malty and raisin aroma. Light brown color, off-white head, good lace. Sweet, malty, nice hop bitterness, hints of raisin and herbs. Flavorful, nice balance.
