Built on the foundations of a classic Mild Ale recipe this dark beer has a smooth character. A welcoming flow of full bodied flavours is followed by a pleasant rounded finish derived from a delicate balance of malt and hops.

UPDATED: MAR 2, 2012 Cask at Dog & Gun, Syston. Very dark brown - almost black. Nice sized head. Lacking aroma. Not much taste - mild malts, lightly bitter with a medium/long finish. Not enough happening but a decent session beer.

Cask at GBBF 2010. A deep red beer with a thin tan head. The aroma has notes of sweet malt and caramel as well as hints of roasted malt. The flavor is sweet malty with light notes of roasted malt, leading to a dry roasted finish.

Cask (GBBF2010)
7 Bread and butter pudding aroma, sweet, touch of actual butter in there too.
4 Deep brown, tiny head.
7 Retronasals like the aroma. Rich, slightly treacly taste, with the butter, and not quite as full as the aroma promised.
4 Full bready palate. Finish raisiny and bread pudding. Hops too are a pleasant bonus.
13 Some harshness, but very tasty.

Cask at GBBF 2010, 4th Aug 2010. 3.4%. Deep chestnut colour with a big magnolia head. Dark fruits on nose and tongue. Dry finish (almost a bit too dry for my liking in a mild). Decent weight for such a low ABV.
