Built on the foundations of a classic Mild Ale recipe this dark beer has a smooth character. A welcoming flow of full bodied flavours is followed by a pleasant rounded finish derived from a delicate balance of malt and hops.

Cask. Strong nose of caramel, hint of molasses, mahogany, red at the sides, pours a tiny toffee head. Flavour is a fine roasted malt, treacle, perhaps a touch of burdock? Light bodied, very well balanced, quite complex for a Mild, bitter, though softly sweet. Wonderfully unique!

Hand pulled at the Wellington, Birmingham. Really good depth of flavour on this Mild. Crunchy charcoal roast. Smooooth.

Cask at GBBF 2010, 4th Aug 2010. 3.4%. Deep chestnut colour with a big magnolia head. Dark fruits on nose and tongue. Dry finish (almost a bit too dry for my liking in a mild). Decent weight for such a low ABV.

Cask (GBBF2010)
7 Bread and butter pudding aroma, sweet, touch of actual butter in there too.
4 Deep brown, tiny head.
7 Retronasals like the aroma. Rich, slightly treacly taste, with the butter, and not quite as full as the aroma promised.
4 Full bready palate. Finish raisiny and bread pudding. Hops too are a pleasant bonus.
13 Some harshness, but very tasty.

Cask@Melton Beer Festival, 2010. Black beer with a reddish tinge. The aroma is mildly malty, and the flavour is bitter with a roasted malty finish. Overall a reasonable malty, roasted and bitter mild.

Cask conditioned at The Oak, Warwick. Dark chestnut with white head. Instantly nutty, dry for a mild with a lingering bitterness, plenty of flavour with dark roasted malts and the roasted hazelnut type flavour. Easy drinking, quite pleasant.

Cask, very dark brown with a thin head. Aromas are coffee and biscuit malts with cocoa powder and smoky notes. Flavours are gritty cocoa malts with roast malts and light berry notes. Peppery and yeasty with a dry finish. A tasty mild.
