joe19612 (465), camberley, Surrey, England Dec 17, 2007 Bottle conditioned. Poured a lovely amber colour, with a thick white head.
Plenty of fruit with hops. Th finish is on the dry side. Liked this beer very much. leaparsons (4180), Leicester, Leicestershire, England Apr 25, 2006 Bottle conditioned. Deep bronze with a large, rocky off-white head. Aromas are sweet toffee malts with mellow berries and plenty of earthy, spicy hops. Some saltiness and bitter citrus, also. Flavours are sweet toffee and caramel malts with winter fruit ans smooth chocolate that is soon superceded by dry, earthy, bitter hops. Hints of sweet pine. Some burnt roast notes are also present with prickly pepper. Lots of grapefruit bitterness on the finish with a dry aftertaste. Has a just right level of alcohol "burn" for a strong ale. A "super" version of the Belvoir Melton Red.
