3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 FatPhil (6205) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - OCT 14, 2011
500ml bottle (ChrisO’s, post RBESG2011 Sunday)
Simple dry woody bitter. Taste a bit buttery. Super dry body. Some blue cheese too. Medium palate, OK carbonation. Finish dry and woody. Clearly past its BB, but I think this survived really well, but I do like dry woodiness in older ales.
2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 dantheman278 (975) - SCOTLAND - OCT 2, 2011
Bottle shared at a cgarvieuk tasting. Orange amber (not blue - I am disappoint!) with a thin white head that vanishes. Orange, caramel, tea leaves on the nose. Lots of blue cheese on the palate, bready malt too. Reasonably resinous and and slightly bready. Weird off flavours in the linger. Interesting but not for me.

In bottle. Pours a dark golden colour with a lacy white head. Aroma of caramel, tea, treacle and yeast. Stilton flavour upfront, musty hay, caramel and barley. The stilton really lingers! Creamy mouth-feel. Super cheesy!

Bottle. Amber copper with an off-white foam. Aromas are toffee malts with citrus and definite creamy, cheese notes. Lightly nutty with weetabix. Flavours are sweet toffee with some roast notes and lemon. The Stilton is evident with a bitter yet creamy character. Dry on the finish. Decent.
