38??? Are you kidding me!?!? The current rating of 38 is not appropriate for this beer... Even though this beer is known as one of the strongest (or strongest) all malt Belgian ales, it deserves to be known as more than that. I’m not even going to get into the prowess it takes to make an ale, consistently, that is 13% (and appropriately carbonated). This is a GREAT beer. It’s smooth, the flavors are in balance (even with the high alcohol level)...yes, alcohol is evident, but that’s expected. This is one of those beers where it’s absolutely clear, especially to brewers, that the brewer has reached a very high level of mastery in his/her craft... to produce such a fine product when also trying to achieve such a high level of alocohol is not easy to do by any means. Excellent!

Moderately cleary golden color with mild particulate. Nose of clove, banana, and bubblegum, but most supprisingly of all, no trace of alcohol! Flavor of vanilla and pepper, and slightly citric but not lemony. Alcohol is not very perceptable in flavor but does exude a warming sensation in the belly. On of the best belgian strongs i’ve had. Cool name earns extra points.

Bottle. Pours a light amber color with no head. Very faint apple aroma. Strong alcohol flavor, apples, rock candy. Slight bubbly almost like an alcoholic sparkling cider.

Poured an almost clear copper color with an off-white head. Some caramel, some fruit, some yeasty notes and light alcohol. Fruity sweet malt with a hint of tartness and some alcohol flavor on the finish.

Bottle shared at tasting. Thanks
Pours a clear golden color with no lasting head. Smell is all alcoholic malt. Very alcoholic in fact. Taste is alcohol, and sweet thin maltiness. Fizzy boddy, and still somehow not too difficult to drink despite the high ABV. A bit warming going down. Okay, but not something I want again.

Pours a brownish-gold with a thin white head. This is a poor, overly-wrought interpretation of a Belgian Strong. The fruit esters are present, but this beer is almost cloyingly sweet. The alcohol almost takes my breath away. Sadly lacking in subtlety and elegance.

Not too strong of a flavor in this beer although it does have a good taste to it. It doesn’t have the alcohol flavor that Miller Lite does yet you can feel the alcohol after one, needless to say with 13%.
