elnadeau (786), Laguna Niguel, California, USA Jan 6, 2008 Light amber color, smallish head. Aroma of caramel, a off-putting fruit blend and lots of alcohol. Flavor is unique but not in a good way. Seems that high abv is it’s focus. Could not finish this one, nearbeer (1833), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jan 3, 2008 250 ml bottle with 13% on the label, 28 07 08 date stamp. Slightly hazy, orange-gold beer with a small but persistent head. Pleasant estery bubblegum, honey, and grain aroma. Flavor is sweet apples, grape, and dry grain with a slight alcohol finish that gets stronger as you go. Juicy Fruit chewing gum aftertaste. Chest-warming alcohol is fairly well-masked for 13%. Mostly smooth, medium body has a little tingle and finishes dry. Average-tasting Belgian, but a nice winter warmer that shouldn’t be given in more than 250 cc doses. jsquire (2086), St. Marys, Ohio, USA Dec 31, 2007 Amber colored beer out of the 25 cl bottle. I poured pretty carefully, but still got lots of little particles in suspension. Thin white bubbles for a head. Melted table sugar, an almost apricot fruitiness, and alcohol in the nose. Oy this is a hot beer. Lots of alcohol with hints of caramel, toffee, and orange liquer. This has many fewer flavors than most Belgian strongs, and blind I might say this is a malt liquer. stefanje (936), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA Dec 30, 2007 11 oz bottle from Bevmo. Pours a slightly cloudy brass color. The head is small, white and recedes to 1/8 inch and holds. The aroma is light with Belgian spices and alcohol. The flavor is dominated by alcohol, there is a strong burn. Other flavors are caramel and cloves. This concoction is best sipped like a martini, big beer gulps just do not work. The mouthfeel is even and smooth. The finish short with alcohol. Overall: Very interesting, but not recommended, it gave me a headache. porterhouse (1148), Alna, Maine, USA Dec 29, 2007 (8.4 oz bottle (stamped "28/09/07") from <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/maine/topsham/bootleggers-beverage-warehouse/9056.htm target=blank>Bootleggers) Butterschnapps!...Pours murky yellowish amber with just a little bit of off-white head. Aroma is hot and sweet, almost like alcoholic cherry syrup or Life Savers. Mouthfeel is kind of unbeerlike, sort of smooth but only small amount of carbonation, somewhat syrupy. Taste is hot but not overpowering. Tastes sort of like a butter rum Life Saver with booze. Not totally undrinkable, just sort of strange. JensenTaster (1585), Denmark Dec 28, 2007 (on bottle) A deep yellow color, white head and an awfull beer indeed. This beer has nothing but alcohol and cloying caramel to it. Even gets those yuki rotten peas-flavour after a few sips. Not even all that alcohol warmth, gives any balance to the brew. Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Dec 13, 2007 8.4 oz bottle, best by date 28/07/08. This is the 13% version, presumably a 2007. Lightly hazy gold with a thin off white head. Sweet, yeasty caramel nose, some graininess. Strong caramel and sweet malt flavors, strong alcohol. Full, sticky body. Sweet malt finish with an alcohol burn in the throat. Got slightly more palatable as the bottle wore on, but still a sweet, sticky, boozy mess. Certainly not worth the $4+ I spent on it. HenrikSoegaard (4260), Randers, Denmark Dec 13, 2007 Bottle. Creamy white good mostly lasting head. Yellow colour. Fruity nice moderate hoppy and malty aroma. Orange notes. Powerfull bitter slightly alcoholiv flavor. Moderate bitter average finish. Creamy palate. Nice beer.
