8.4 oz bottle, best by date 28/07/08. This is the 13% version, presumably a 2007. Lightly hazy gold with a thin off white head. Sweet, yeasty caramel nose, some graininess. Strong caramel and sweet malt flavors, strong alcohol. Full, sticky body. Sweet malt finish with an alcohol burn in the throat. Got slightly more palatable as the bottle wore on, but still a sweet, sticky, boozy mess. Certainly not worth the $4+ I spent on it.

Bottled. Amber colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is alcohol, malts, caramel and some slightfruitys also. Flavour is really caramel malty with a stinging alcohol coming through in a warming way. Also quite much toffee and slight notes of grass.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a reddish golden with a small white head and alcohol, yeast and ripe fruits on the nose. Taste is very alcoholic, but also sweet with lots of fruits and some brown sugar. Finish is also very alcohol and biting, I tend to like high-alcohols, but I don’t like this one that much

330cl bottle – Gravity Room – Olympia, WA
Aroma – Deep rich Belgian aroma with a fruity essence coming off of it also..
Appearance – Deep golden color with a slight haze and a small head.
Flavor – Had some rich flavors but was actually a nice beer. The Belgian yeast was covered with the high alcohol flavors. 13% wow this was a good thing it is a small beer.
Palate – Fruity on the tongue with a snap of alcohol and dry to the finish.
Overall – Liked the beer it was very interesting but the high alcohol was a killer for me it was so high it gave me a headache and ran out of flavor after a few sips. This is a must try but do not get the six pack.

Arrggh. I’ve been putting off rating this beer for some time now. It looked good in the store, but then I went back home and saw the rating was relatively low, with some descriptions of hotness. Well, being 13% and hot, it would be a good candidate for aging. Bought in June 2007. Best before Juy 28th, 2008? Opening the day before the strong ale festival. Head is small, then forms to spotty white fluffy microbubble clouds, and eventually the clouds for a 2mm thick cover over the cloudy amber liquid. Actually a very nice appearance. Aroma is a little boozy, and some melanoidin malts. Aroma is very mild in general. Mouthfeel is a combination of creamy caramel sweetness and some alcohol burn. A little too much burn, but I wouldn’t associate it with fusel or higher alcohols. Lots of DMS or corny vegetal lingering flavor in the mouth. I think this is biggest drawback of the beer. Not bad, but not worth buying either.
