Bottle, thanks to screwball. Somewhat hazy orange/amber color, offwhite head. Sweet marcipan aroma, alcohol and some nuts. Strong alcohol flavor, nothing else in there. Way too strong to be drinkable.

Aroma: somewhere between a Duvel & biere de garde. Coriander & pale lager. Fairly decent. Alcohol... Maizy sweetness... slightly metallic... Fudge, summery hops.
Appearance: mediocre golden with white head. Tyical lager appearance.
Flavour: Initial sweetness... some alcoholic/hoppy bitterness but mainly a cloying, belgiesque sweetness. Almost sourish in a biere de garde-way. Not too bad, but not very well balanced... dried fruits, candisugar, coconuttish.
Palate: Not too bad... quite smooth & foamy... decently carbonated, not too fizzy.

Originally reviewed back on 10/12/03. Received 3.4 score. Added to my RB list to check "France" as a beer country consumed. A syrupy concoction with fiery alcohol. Looks drab and listless. Powerful mouthfeel. Drinkability suffers. Could run my remote control car I bet...

slightly cloudy amber. fruity sweet smell. nice lacing. Light taste with hints of banana and clove followed by a strong taste of alcohol. Almost someone made a decent belgian ale and put a shot of vodka in it. Smooth, but a little watery as it finishes.

Thanks to my Dad for sharing with me. Poured from the bottle into a tulip glass; was a cloudy, amber-gold color with a small, foamy off-white head that had short retention. Aroma is sweet and candy-like, somewhat fruity, with maybe a bit of citrus or grapefruit hops, but weak. Taste is very sweet and a bit candy-like, but also had a very bitter component with moderate alcohol concentration. The beer was lightly fizzy, a bit oily and smooth, and mostly dry, particularly at the finish.

8 oz. longneck bottle. Best before 03/28/07. Poured out a hazy orange/brown color, with a foamy off white head. Aromas are of alcohol, some yeast, sweet fruit. Flavors are of sweet fruits, mostly alcohol. Not well balanced by any means.

Bottle (Apteekki, Turku) Orange, medium head. Rich malty aroma. Very sweet malty taste, some alcohol, but not as much as you’d expect from a 13%. Maybe a bit maizy, gets more alcoholic as time goes on. My scores for this went up and down several times while drinking this. It’s a bit top heavy, and could topple either way...

Bottle. Pours hazy copper color with minimal beige colored head. Aoma is alcohol, fruit, sweet malts. Flavor is huge kick of alcohol, sweet malts, caramel, dried fruit. Palate is medium, mildly carbonated, finishes sweet and warm. I find the initial kick of alcohol to be not so pleasant, but fades throughout the finish. Nothing special.
