Delbomber (387), Philadelphia, USA Jul 24, 2001 Almost impossible to enjoy. At colder temperatures there is a pineapple aroma, with a surprisingly low, almost non-existent alcohol scent. The head died quick, but a quarter of the way through I was still mighty impressed by how well the alcohol was masked. Then came the sip...the sip in which this beer’s insanely high alc. content reared its ugly head. Gone was the prevaling pineapple aroma and flavor, and in their place were the dreadful taste and smell of vodka, with just a pinch of pineapple. I’ve had martinis that had less alcohol taste! They might want to reduce the alc. content and change their gimmick from the strongest beer to the most ’Hawaiin’ beer, because this could have been one of the most unique beers I’ve ever had. Instead, I’ll probably never touch it again.
StFun (411), Indiana, USA Jan 5, 2009 A bit underrated, not nearly as terrible as some of the ratings suggest. Pours a nice blond color with a thin white head. Aroma is grass and wheat, with a touch of lemon zest. Flavor is much the same, with vanilla and malt. Medium bodied and not sticky. Actually fairly good. fidel (401), Livermore, California, USA Jan 4, 2009 Pours golden orange, malty, yeasty, spicey, alcohol, little fruity, little vanilla. AgentSteve (1010), SF Bay Area, California, USA Jan 3, 2009 Pours kind of Pale Ale ish with no head, but some big bubbles around the outside of the glass. Nose is cough syrup and yeast. The flavor is better by far, with some malt complexity with fruit and candied sugar. It doesn’t have a lot of heat in the flavor, but the throat burn lasts a bit. SkyCop32 (286), Morlautern, Germany Dec 31, 2008 Drank this with fellow taster oldrtybastrd from this site. This poured a clear yellow with some spicy aroma and fruit. This had a lot of alcohol taste with a lot of yeast to back it up. This was not my favorite of this type. JaBier (240), Capital City, Ohio, USA Dec 27, 2008 Pours a cloudy copper with a minimal head. Malty aroma with some funky fruit character and hop. Flavor is equally funky with yeast, creamy vanilla, and a sweet finish. Odd, and not necessarily in a good way.
