Smell: Slightly candyish nose with meager fruit notes and the scent of a glass of chardonnay perked up with a half shot of grain alcohol.
Taste: Sweet caramel and toffee maltiness upfront with a hot alcohol component fast on it’s heels. A few helpings of rock candy. Slight peach and apple fruitiness. Sip of white wine. That ABV is very apparent and once it hits it’s harsh to and beyond the finish with any subsequent flavors becoming washed out in the booziness.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Very warming alcohol presence from stem to sternum.
Drinkability: Whew. Definitely a candidate for a slow sipper. Seems to forgo subtle complexities and finesse for a punchy booziness. tupalev (2618), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada

Dark yellow, small white head. Some alcohol in surprisingly mild aroma. Harsh sweet taste, lots of unbalanced alcohol as well, but it is the sweetness that is harsh, not necessarily the alcohol. Almost a whiskey/bourbon finish. Yeck, not good. Obviously evil. Pailhead (2610), Allen Park, Michigan, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 29, 2004 Updated: Sep 10, 2005Bottle: Real sweet aroma with citrus and banana bread. Pours a transparent brownish-orange with a small white head that never gets going. Real sweet up front but kind of has this sourness that comes on the finish that covers the alcohol flavor but not the alcohol warming effect. Extremely dry finish. A little cloying. As it warms the sourness decreases and the alcohol slowly becomes more noticeable, but never becomes overbearing. 1FastSTi (2591), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | May 13, 2005 Thanks JiM! The aroma is pear, ripe banana, lots of malts, and a light sour green apple hiding, lots of spiciness in the aroma like an allspice and/or cinnamon. The appearance is a clear golden body with an off-white head that laces really well. The flavor is sugary alcohol, odd maltiness, and allspice. I’m not a huge fan of the palate. Small lacing head over caramel amber clear beer. Thick syrupy body with med carb. Alcohol burn, vapory like wine. Very malty, sweet alcohol & cereal. Finish is sweet and lays about. Light bittering, with nutty sick-sweet after. Bockyhorsey (2561), Mesa, Arizona, USA

It has a crisp feeling that seeps into every pore of your tongue and certainly coats it quite nicely. In my opinion, a nice strong ale that doesn’t taste as strong as it is. Excellent. pivo (2537), Germany
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 3, 2002 Sweet nose that is pleasant and brandy-like – smells like a baked apple. Lovely gold colo. Vinous, brandy-like taste that recalls an Italian dessert wine (Vinsanto). Long profile that goes from 0 to 60 quickly. Full and round mouth feel, but light somehow. This is a sipping beer! The amount and type of bubbles leads me to believe that champagne yeast was used here, which would account for the high alcohol too. At first strange, then interesting, then good – this is a wonderful beverage!
