Courtesy of Fonefan. Warm golden with a huge, nice and creamy head. The aroma has sweetness, notes of malt and alcohol. The flavour is SWEET with notes of alcohol, malt and yeast. It’s not very inspiring and the sweetness and alcohol is too much for me.

No head. Malt and raisin in the aroma. Thick. Sweet, raisinny very alcoholic taste with some orange. The flavor isn’t bad, but you only tatse alcohol and fruit. In fact this is too rich to be drunk as a beer.

BB 28/01/08. Aroma of malt backed by quite a bit of alcohol. Amber gold color with a frothy white head that stayed. Laces. Starts with grainy malt, and alcohol. Mellows a bit, but it’s hard to find any ale characteristics. After awhile each sip seems to develop some fruit character. Although it is sweet, the finish is rather dry. Different, but what is the point?

Hazy, golden ale with huge floaties. Looks like orange pulp. I really hope these are supposed to be floating in here. The aroma is of fuzzy fruit, smoke and alcohol. As it warms, some nice, aromatic notes of butterscotch and fruitcake appear. Big alcohol in the flavor... going in and going down. Also, some very nice, malty sweet notes. Fruity flavor. Balanced by the alcohol and hops. Full-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Lengthy, bitter, alcoholic finish.

13% version: bought by the Brasseurs de Gayant in june 2001, the brewery Jeanne D’Arc has changed its name in brewery Grain D’Orge at the beginning of july 2002. And for a reason I ignore, they have now downgraded the Belzebuth to (only) 13% - golden-orange colour, few head, a good balance between alcohol and spices in the nose, oily and sweet, the finish is spicy, very long with a strong alcohol presence - I don’t notice any differences with the old version (except the fact I don’t like it so much now)
15% version: orange colour, very deep spicy aroma, strong alcohol presence (of course...), nice complex aftertaste

(bottle; 0,25 l, 13% ABV, BB Sept. 2006) Clear copper colour with a small creamy layer. Strong sweet malty aroma with alcohol and a shy fruity tinge. Very sweet flavour, medium to full body, moderate carbonation. Sweet malty taste; alcoholic and syrupy sweet finish. Too sweet and too strong ( & obviously too alcoholic) for my kind of taste.

Bottle from Crown #19, Indy. Poured clear golden color with a medium to large frothy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Complex aroma of yeasty and malty. Body was medium with a sticky texture and lively carbonation. Flavor was sweet malt with a medium bittersweet smooth finish and small alcohol burn of moderate duration. Good, not great beer.
