3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 walleye (944) - Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA - OCT 18, 2004
bottle said best by oct.02 and 15% abv. poured in my snifter a golden amber with off white head with lots of floaties. aroma alcohol, malts,a nice sweetness like honey, some citrus, orange , lemon, licorice. flavor surprisingly the alcohol was not the 1st thing that comes out, syrupy fruity honey mixtureand as it lingers in your mouth the alcohol comes out. this is a beer you could drink instead of cognac for a after dinner drink I didn’t think the french had it in them to make such a beer that would stand up and fight for you attention

Bottle. Very strong malty flavor, sweet and heavy. The alcohol content is certainly not hidden.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Hank1980 (942) - Athens, Georgia, USA - DEC 20, 2010
Bottle. Poured a clearish gold with a tiny white head. Nose of booze, sugar, earthy notes, and light spice. Taste is really similar with a bit of yeast and more spice coming through. Body is well carbonated and dry. Overall, a decent, though strange brew.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Russo (942) - Campinas, BRAZIL - AUG 6, 2011
bottled 25cl. Golden color with a thin foam, aroma with hints of Malt, alcohol and swetness. The flavor was also sweet and malty. Hints of honey and bread. With a 13% abv, the alcohol was present, but not really in the taste... Mouthfeel kind sweet dry.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 npdempse (932) - St. Petersburg, Florida, USA - AUG 5, 2002
Beautiful looking stuff--clear golden color with a slight white head. Flavor is very sweet, and it doesn’t disguise its strength at all. After a while it takes on the flavor of Irish whisky--slightly fruity, with an alcohol burn.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Syd (920) - Waconia, Minnesota, USA - DEC 5, 2004
UPDATED: OCT 16, 2008 This is really weird, but I think I have the only good bottle of this in recent history according to the other recent ratings. Bottle pours a crystal copper with a decent head and some spotty lace. The aroma is of malt, yeast, and alcohol. The flavor is yeasty, malty, quite Belgian tasting, and warming. The palate is actually cleansing (mine is actually carbonated) LOL! Overall, underrated.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 trevor211 (920) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JAN 25, 2009
If this is a blonde, then my last girlfriend certainly wasn’t. Pours a ruddy orange with a very thin head. Smells like a very fresh Samichlaus - sickly sweet malts, very ripe tropical fruits (esp. papaya) and booze. The flavor is downright bad. Watered-down (alcoholled-down?) macro beer with some sugary syrup added to try and mask it. This could be something a frat party whipped up to be efficient if only barely palatable. Hot, slightly metallic, and devoid of any interesting flavors. Yech. I do like the label, though (aside from the blatant advertisement of the ABV).
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 ravidesai (916) - Bombay, INDIA - MAR 10, 2002
orange colorsmall head.
lot of subtleties in this unexopected for such a strong brew. cloves, oranges, cinnamon and other spices as well as a nutty taste.
the strength of this makes it a sweet beer.
A ’sipping’ beer for cold days.
