Bottle (Apteekki, Turku) Orange, medium head. Rich malty aroma. Very sweet malty taste, some alcohol, but not as much as you’d expect from a 13%. Maybe a bit maizy, gets more alcoholic as time goes on. My scores for this went up and down several times while drinking this. It’s a bit top heavy, and could topple either way...

8th Big Beers, Belgians, and Barleywines. Pours clear dark yellow with a small, fizzy, white head, diminishing with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (grain, hay, straw), light hops (flowers, grass), average yeast (horse blanket, barnyard) with notes of banana and vanilla. Medium bodied, oily texture, average carbonation, and a lightly sweet finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, light acidity and bitterness.

Bottled from Peculiar Pub. I was surprised when I first tasted this beer. I was expecting an overmalted gimmick. What I got instead was a tasty beer with strong elements of orange peel and caramel. Pours a strong cloudy orange in color. Not bad at all. I need to find a few of these for home consumption.

bottle from Auchan Ilkirch-Graffenstaden. Golden colour, large white head. Full-bodied, intensivly malty with some old/rotten fruit and ethanol. Shy hoppy touch. Not really my cup of tea, but quite nice for the strenth.

Bottle at Brother Tuckers. This should be labeled a dessert beer...well almosty anyway. I actually liked it...but it took awhile to finish the bottle. It pours a yellowish/gold color with a big foamy head. Aroma is boozy and malty..matly and did I mention malty. And if you thought the nose was malty, just take a sip. Sweet sugars, syrup, spices...a malt bomb.

25 cL bottle, 13%. Thin transparent medium-golden pour with a light ring of white around the edge of the glass.. and some yeast suspended in there. Aroma was rather strong with pears, grapes, and alcohol abundant. Light-medium sweet & fruity malt base, with alcohol precluding much of the other flavor from hitting the taste buds. The sweetness and alcohol were somewhat cloying on the finish. I was able to pick out white pepper and light fruits from the flavor. This brew really lacked balance.

Had this before but never quite got around to rating it, so thanks to Craig (if it was you?) for including this in my Cropredy Box, consumed 08-10-08 Pours mid- dark amber with white head. Sweet malt and alcohol linger on the nose. Alcohol whilst always evident isn’t as fierce as I expected, its a bit wayward at times but there is a fair degree of bananyness going on as well, its really quite sweet and the malt is also a bit much, still I expected much worse so all in all it wasn’t so bad.

Bottle. High fluffy and long lasting white head leaving nice long lacings. Slightly hazy amber body. Alcohol dominated aroma with barley malt and caramel. The rice added sweetens the flavor and makes is less alcohol tasting. Unfortunately it also makes the beer a good deal more boring and only tasting of mild barley malt and caramel as the hops contents appear to be low. Low carbonation, short aftertaste.

Im sure this was the 13% vertion. Aroma is seriously alcoholic, however toffee malts and some plums seem to hide it reasonably well. Taste is similarly storng a sweet but drinkable to nearly a dangerous level.

2010-08-07. Crisp golden yellow, small creamy white head. 3+ Flavour is quite sweet, mild alcohol sneaks past the tongue and makes it self known in the throat, light sweet grainy accents. Alcohol features more prominently in the nose, overshadowing the mild pale malt character. 6+ Smooth average plus to medium bodied palate. 3+ Bit dull, but dangerously drinkable. Bottle at Le Sous Bock, Paris
