Famous ale from northern France, was once the strongest European beer at 15% ABV, since 2002 ’only’ 13% ABV. Yellowish white, irregular and loose but nevertheless and in spite of the alcohol strenght, quite stable foam, colour orangey amber, warm, clear. Lively fruity aroma of orange peel, pineapple and red berries, honey, pepper, cognac, caramel candy, orange liqueur, aniseed, meat broth, a vague hint of peat and a subtle smokiness. Taste begins with lots of sweet fruits, mainly orange and pinapple, even sugary, on a light malt base that becomes a bit more full in the middle, nutty and very caramelly, bit honeyish, finishing in a spicy, peppery but not very strong hoppiness, though the ’tail’ is mainly dominated by warming, brandy-like alcohol, which they somehow managed to keep from becoming truly astringent. Perhaps too sweet and too strong for many, but I sincerely enjoyed this many a time.

Bottle. Clear deep golden color with a medium sized frothy off-white head. Sweet aroma of candy and caramel. Very sweet taste. Couldn’t finish the bottle because of its sweetness.

A clear, somewhat dark yellow beer, but unfortunately hardly any foam. It has aroma’s of cognac and alcohol. Also a full sweet taste with the touch of whiskey. The aftertaste tastes like syrup.

Just a boozy gimmick, as expected. Reminds me if the hot sauce trend of the 90's where heat trumped flavor...same goes for this abomination. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Amber color. Very alcoholic on the nose. Much better taste, sweet malts, balanced with the strength of alcohol. Soft, with some hoppy influence of at the end.

Pours a golden orange color with a short lived white head. Fruit, sugar, yeast, malt and spice aroma. Yeast, malt, sugar, fruit and spice flavor. Light body and average carbonation. Very sweet with a sweet fruity finish with just a slight alcohol warmth.
