Wow! This beer is a real malt knockout. What character! Great color, intense maltiness and a good amount of complexity. Honey-ish. Light candy. Toffee & Munich malt. Alot of alcohol but well supported by malt flavor and body. Sweetish, but that differentiates it a bit. I’d definately categorize this as a type of barleywine. Thank you sir, may I have another!?

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2007 25 cl bottle, tasted in my own Belzebuth glass. Amber-copper colour, it pours a good slightly yellow head, that last long enough and leaves a great lace. Smells of honey, orange, some pepper, a bit of chocolate and hazelnut and I think I detected a hint of tobacco. Thick body and velvety flavor, and cider palate, with pepper, banana, some chocolate filled wihth hazelnuts, a rum taste. I seem to remember that, when it was 15º, it was darker, richer and more complex, but I didn’t take notes back then, so I’m not really sure. Anyway, a very good beer.

Well, I don’t even know what to say about this beer but my rate is quite good because Belzebuth has very good palate for such a strong beer. Among the strongest beers this one definitely is the best and I enjoyed it more than ’EKU 28’ for example. Sometimes I don’t know what exactly I’m drinking - liquor, whiskey? No, it’s beer! And anyway it is recommended!

15% version. I expected less, judging by the ratings, but I thought this was very good. Reminded me of EKU 28 on steroids (although that beer gets low ratings too). Gold like nectar, thick, and very warming, but not hot. Had a bit of a head too, when it poured.

Copper like color and kinda sweet. Alcohol is definitely present in the taste.

This ale pours with a dark honey color, moderate amounts of carbonation, and the thin, white head settles almost immediately in the glass. The nose is extremely sweet: pure candy sugar. Flavor is very similar to Duvel Speciale Ale (brewed by Duvel Moortgat N.V. in Breendonk, Belgium), featuring a spicy banana and butter flavor but finishing with an alcohol punch that is almost twice as strong.

bottle from Kingdom Liquors - may have to re-rate this one later because I brushed my teeth just earlier - I have to disagree with the last writer - this hides the 13% quite well - especially if I compare to the last Scaldis I had. Virtually no head - very sweet - apple on other fruits, vanilla, malts - I really enjoyed this one - to each his own!

I drunk the first version before the brewery changed there name so for me it was a 15% alcohol beer. A beer where the taste of alcohol is overwelming. I still have the bottle that says best before 2002. Tasted also the other brews but the 15 % is a little too much
