Bottle pours a crystal copper with a decent head and some spotty lace. The aroma is of malt, yeast, and alcohol. The flavor is yeasty, malty, quite Belgian tasting, and warming. The palate is actually cleansing (mine is actually carbonated) LOL! Overall, underrated. Cletus (5061), Connecticut, USA

I was expecting an overmalted gimmick. What I got instead was a tasty beer with strong elements of orange peel and caramel. Pours a strong cloudy orange in color. Not bad at all. I need to find a few of these for home consumption. beervana (781), Libertyville, Illinois, USA

Poured clear amber with small white head. No discernable carbonation. Medium bodied ale that starts with moderate malt sweetness and fruity (plum?) and caramel flavors. Finished the same but with light bitterness. Some metallic aftertaste. Definite alcoholic presence. Smooth. A very good high-alcoholic beer. BeerGestapo (740), Windsor, Pennsylvania, USA

Hazy orange / amber color with a med-white head. The aroma is of fruits and spices with a slight tart / alcohol feel.,But the 13% is well hidden !!!
Great label, and the best beer from france for me so far. Will drink again !! TheCaptain (559), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 14, 2008 Bottle - 3 pack. Shared this with beergestapo in the Devonshire. Poured a slight hazy amber gold with a white head. Some aroma of white grapes similar to a wine. Pallet was smooth with a bit of sweetness, malts and very much a Belgian in character. Although 13% it was relatively mild and drinkable. Liked this, not just a clever label but a good Strong Ale as well. Ludwig (60), USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Apr 10, 2003 This is such drinkable Ale, even though it has the ABV on a Barley Wine. It slides down like ice tea. Allen (1437), Switzerland

It pours a nice clear apricot colored beer with a small whitish head. The aroma is of chestnuts, plums, lots of strawberries, raspberries and bread. The taste is of the same with quite an alcoholic punch. Some peaches and apricots. Olive-oil like notes. Full bodied, sweet and nicely balanced. The warming finish is grassy and wonderfully herbal with a nice dry lingering bitterness. Very enjoyable. Hendo (110), Sint Anthonis, Netherlands
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 22, 2005 This is dangerously drinkable! The 13% isn’t obvious as it is not nearly as harsh as say, the 11,6% Grolsch Het Kanon.
Yum!
