goldtwins (3658), Nesconset, New York, USA Apr 11, 2008 Poured an almost clear copper color with an off-white head. Some caramel, some fruit, some yeasty notes and light alcohol. Fruity sweet malt with a hint of tartness and some alcohol flavor on the finish.
KieferUGA (292), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jun 29, 2008 8.4 oz. bottle. Hazy, dark yellow color. Small, off white head. Good amount of lacing. Sweet malt aroma with a touch of warming alcohol. Thin mouthfeel. Very sweet, dark fruit flavor. Alcoholic finish that burns the throat. A bit too much for me. kiefdog (270), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 15, 2008 24.8cl bottle from Total Wine (Tampa). Pours a clear, deep orange with an amber glow, frothy white head heavily laces glass and is retained throughout consumption. Smells mediciny with phenol in the nose and notes of pear and spice. Taste is initially sweet with a kick of white sweet wine that gives way to alcohol and honey with a lingering alcohol burn in the finish. We experienced the high alcohol content to be very noticeable and somewhat overpowering making it difficult to discern other flavors. yespr (5258), Copenhagen O, Denmark Jun 12, 2008 25 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden yellow to orange with a slowly collapsing off-white head. Dense malty aroma towards fruity. Flavour is mild yeasty which I assume provide the almost Belgian fruit esters to an alcohol dense and quite malt based beer. Solid warmth in the finish from the alcohol. Acknud (533), Morganfield, Kentucky, USA Jun 5, 2008 Tastes like a barleywine. Pours murky brown. Aroma is sweet, malty. Taste is malty sweet with a good hppiness. Skyview (2637), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA May 30, 2008 Sampled at Cellars Wine & Spirits in St Paul, Minnesota. Pours a semi-hazy orange amber brew (with particles) with an average sized off-white head that has some nice retention and some good lacing. Aroma of a heavy chardonnay white wine, some caramel malt, flowery hops and light pear fruit. Taste is full bodied, thick, fruity with flavors of sweet caramel, pears and a whopping alcohol burn. Finish is metallic from the high alcohol presence that over-powers some of the fruity and Belgian yeast flavors.
