3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle dated 2008 - pours murky brown color - this looks as though it came from the swamps of Louisiana. No head to speak of. Aroma is light, but had some caramel malts, booze, light fruits and a general sweetness - nothing great, but nothing offensive either. Flavor is actually quite smooth - some years have mellowed this one out greatly I have to assume - caramel, vanilla, malt, candy - very sweet overall. Palate is slightly slick, and very boozy still. I opened this one up expecting the worst, and came away greatly surprised. Quite easy to drink, smooth and far from being ’offensive’.

Pours slightly cloudy, light brown with a minimal ring of off-white...

Taste is sweet, apple and other light fruits....toffee....yeast.....
Overall, the booze dominates....in a "I poured some cheap vodka in it" fashion.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
25cl bottle into tulip. Lille.
Appearance: golden in color. Transparent. White foamy head with good retention. Lots if small bubbles coming from the bottom. Good lacing.
Aroma: citrus, grains, alcohol.
Taste: sweet with a bitter alcohol finish.
Palate: medium body. Thick texture. Long alcoholic finish.
Overall: not overly complex but still very drinkable, especially for being 13%. Doesn’t hide the achool as well as other Belgian strongs, but still not bad for such a high proof. The alcohol is very wanting. Doesn’t have the refinements of an excellent beer, but still worth a try.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
250ml bottle. Clear, orangey golden colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Sweetish grainy, slightly perfumed aroma, an unspecific, unpleasant bitter note, some yeast. Taste is initially sweet malty, minimally fruity, pear, later unspecific bitter; burning alcohol-driven finish.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
(Bottle) It pours a nearly clear, nearly bronze colour with a small white head. There’s a aroma of alcohol, sweetness, honey wax and elder. The flavour is heavy, sirup like, sweet with an enjoyable peatiness, but with an alcoholic outflow.

2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Can from 2006. Time probably helped overall, colour was very nice, amber. Scent was sweet and flower, however the taste was a bit too alcoholic. Traces of almonds and dried fruits. Heavy malt influence and no hops. No bitter aftertaste at all. It is more likely a kind of wine than a beer.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
Clear golden yellow/orange with a disappearing frothy, lacy, white head. Smells of toasted malt, alcohol, caramel and sugar. Some Fruit. Medium oily body. Tastes of stale alcohol with yeast on a malt base that tries to cover it all with sweetness but fails. Finishes with a stale warming alcohol. I found it hard to drink.
