3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 matta (1140) - Tampa, USA - JUL 7, 2003
I am almost afraid to give this a less than average rating, due to the fact that evaluating the “Lord of the Flies” may result in my tortures demise.-- My beer was the newer and lighter 13% abv. This beer poured a majestic golden color with a large frothy white head. It had an orangey grain alcohol nose and an oily palate, but the flavor was yeasty and sweet, like molasses. I guess this sweetness was the attempt at hiding the alcohol. Belzebuth is a decent brew and is definitely worth a try due to its distinct personality; but over all I was not so impressed. – I did get a buzz from drinking this beer.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20 bytemesis (143) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - MAY 17, 2012
Bottle. Pours cloudy amber with lots of suspended particles. Small, slowly dissipating off-white head, minimal lacing. Aroma is heavy, roasted malt, some fruity sweetness and alcohol. Flavor is malty, almost Belgian in its yeast characteristics. Strong alcohol notes present. Some sweetness in the mid and far body. Minimal bitterness, mostly in the lingering aftertaste. Rich and full bodied in the mouth.

Absurdely strong with noo actual flavour other than pure malt... Not really liked it.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 stobbe74 (3163) - DENMARK - MAY 6, 2012
Pours a clear and amber beer with a weak white head. The aroma is malt and alcohol. The flavor follows the nose. The palate is sweetness and alcoholwarmth. Overall this beer is below average.
2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 kiwianer (383) - Mönchengladbach, GERMANY - MAY 5, 2012

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 1, 2012
April 2009, I wrote this: Been saving this beer for my 666th review on BA (how sad is that?). 25cl brown bottle with the 13% brew inside. Poured into my ’La Chouffe’ stemmed tulip glass.
Clear, deep golden colour, like a German Export or Dort. Same white head too.
Alcohol esters attack the nose along with a toffee/molasses/treacle semi-sweetness. Hops too, they arrive as the beer warms.
Obviously you have to get past the alcohol first, then a richness and tangy sensation puts a tingle to the back of your throat. The semi-sweetness of the aroma comes out in the taste and there is a hidden warmth in the brew which reminded me of coal fires and smoking jackets.
This is a bloody good beer, I am finding more and more French brews worth drinking, this being the second from this brewery.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 FudgeSociety2 (276) - Florida, USA - APR 27, 2012
Almost a liquor vodka like taste, which is not something I’m big on. Nothing special here.
2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 dutchtuga (23) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - APR 21, 2012
This beer wants to be a strong one a little too much. The attention is focused on the alcohol and the vodka taste and it forgets to be a good beer. The first 2 seconds are pleasant, but the aftertaste is horrible.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 BigSound (149) - New York, USA - MAR 26, 2012
From notes. Pours a murky brownish amber with a thin white head that disappears to a film that leave some bad ass lacing.
The aroma is strange, malty, yeasty, some grassy hop. Tastes kind of old...
Defiantly has a nice sweetness to the taste. The high alcohol is actually pretty well masked but coming out more as it warms up. The grassy hop is even more present in the taste. Pretty smooth mouth feel, pretty high carbonation with a warming booze finish.
