Commercial Description:
The dark amber colored Belzebub offers an intense alcohol flavor with a strong supporting maltiness. Alcohol content was lowered from 15% to 13% when brewery changed name from Jeanne d'Arc to Grain d'Orge in 2002. And one more time in 2005 from 13% to 11.8%. The beer is canned in Holland. As of April 2007, the alcohol is listed on the bottle as 13%.

Pours golden with chunks of sediment and no head. Malt scents are super-dominant with butterscotch hints and an alcohol background. Taste follows the nose with extremely dry finish. The palate is quite smooth and vibrant despite looking like a poorly mixed smoothie.

[Bottle] Pours a clear gold with a medium whitish head. Aroma is sweet and yeasty. Flavor is very rich, very sweet, cloying, with a bit of alcohol burn.

Had this before but never quite got around to rating it, so thanks to Craig (if it was you?) for including this in my Cropredy Box, consumed 08-10-08 Pours mid- dark amber with white head. Sweet malt and alcohol linger on the nose. Alcohol whilst always evident isn’t as fierce as I expected, its a bit wayward at times but there is a fair degree of bananyness going on as well, its really quite sweet and the malt is also a bit much, still I expected much worse so all in all it wasn’t so bad.

Burnt orange, thick soapy head. Aroma is sweet fruityness, not quite deep enough for a belgian, kind of peachy, with some citrus. Taste is like those Peach Os. Really, not much else. Beginning and end are just sweet. A bit thin, not much texture. Alcohol is well-hidden by the over-sweetness.

bottle from 2006 I Believe . Clear dark amber pour. Sweet malts on the nose, however the flavor is dominated by the strong alcohol presence

Pours clear amber with white head. Sweet fruity aroma mixed with alcohol that was quite noticeable. Similar flavors.Lots of sweetness and lots of alcohol. Medium body with average carbonation and a syrupy mouthfeel. The alcohol is just too much.
