A: The pour is a murky dark brown with some definite red notes to it. A minimal tan head forms on top. S: The nose starts off with a big time pie cherry aroma. There’s a nice sweetness along with some chocolate and a very mild roasted malt character. The cherries are the standout here. T: Like the nose, the cherries really make this beer. A good combination of sweetness and tartness from the fruit, along with some sweet caramel and chocolate. The roasted malt is again mild. M: The body is medium and the carbonation is low to medium. D: I was worried this one might be a bit medicinal or cough syrup-esque since so many cherry beers seem to end up that way. Luckily, that wasn’t the case.

Bottle... Pours clear and nearly black with flickers of copper and a fleeting, khaki head. The aroma is roasty and chocolaty with an undercurrent of sour cherries. Full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and feather-soft carbonation. The flavor presents sweet milk chocolate and acidic, fruity, sour cherries. Lightly sweet, tangy finish. Pulls up just short of being a world class beer. Loads of potential here. Bottle courtesy of newcigarz!

Bottle, "Lovely" Baltic Porter with Cherries (admin note). Pours with a hazed brown body with a tan head. Aromas of cherries, dates, dark fruits, vanilla and licorice. Flavors of pie cherries, bready, lots of fruits, cherries. A bit sweet, very smooth, light bubbles, well hidden alcohol.

Bottle shared by Jeff, thanks! Pours a dark brown/black color with a medium tan head. The aroma is sweet cocoa and cherries. The flavor is light roast and chocolates with lots of sour and sweet cherries. A bit candy like at times. Enjoyable.

Draft at belmont. Gabf gold baby! Pours jet black with a dense and creamy tan head. Big sweet cherry cordial nose, lots of sweet cherries and chocolate on the nose. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Swirly sweet milk chocolate and cherry mid palate with a long sweet finish. Harmonious and balanced.

this one had been aged by Bend and as a result was very very smooth, but also just a touch muddled. the tart cherry compliments the dark malts, though, and this was easily one of the best they had on.

SD Strong Ale Fest 2010. Mahogany brown color/ fleeting head. Sweet cherry, black licorice, sugar, dark roast malt aromas. medium bodied with soft carb. Semi sweet chocolate, sweet cherry, black licorice spice flavors, with some dark roast that cuts some of the sweet stuff here.

Draft at SD Strong Ale Fest 10. Pours a deep dark brown, thin tan head. Dark roasted malts, sweet juicy red cherries, chocolate, and some sweet caramel. Sweet beer, but not sugary and artificial, no cough syrup. Chocolate covered cherries mmmm.

Tap @ Bailey’s Cellar Fest [2009 Vintage]... One of my favorites from the fest! Poured near black with a thin, khaki head. Nice thin and clean mouthfeel which really endorsed the dark fruit cherry flavors. The cherries played only slightly medicinal but were countered by a decent amount of roasty and toasty malts. Plump, dark cherry skins that tasted fresh in character. Cocoa, and an amaretto liqueur tone. Like dessert in a glass!
