Bottle 50 cl, BBE 26.09.2014. Pours hazy golden in color with a creamy whitish head. Ripe forrest berries, banana and sour wheat in aroma. Notes of wheat, banana fruityness and butterscotch sweetness in taste. Isn’t overly sweet though, just about the right amount here. Feels quite smooth too. Solid hefeweissbier. Sweetish banana notes and slightly burnt toffee in aftertaste.

Bottle. Hay orange with a large off white head that collapses to an inch but hangs around. Aroma is heavily bready with banana, rather less lemon and spices. Full bready mouthfeel with a wheaty tang. Tastes as it smells with spices coming to the fore at the end. It’s a bit heavier than I like a hefe, and it’s a bit muddled, but but spices and light bitterness make the balance seem good at the end.

ALLOVATE (2382) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - OCT 16, 2012
Creamy and dense, whipped up cappuccino foam of white holds a good inch and a half above a hazy, honey amber body. The carbonation fine and bountiful; the lacing enviable. A hint of salted caramel underlies plump, ripe banana and strawberries esters, vanilla icecream and toasted wheat malt on the nose. Boldly flavoured palate full of toasted wheat, tart berries, roasted nuts, caramel and sticky banoffee. Sprightly carbonation softens as it heads towards the tonsils becoming quite smooth and creamy. Good length and residually sweet and malty and hinting at fresh baked biscuits and vanilla icecream. It is a veritable dessert of a weizen. The phenols are evident, clove-like but held low; a woody edge peaks through. Meaty, chunky body; deliciously flavoured and balanced. This is a great weissebier. I loved it. Need more now. Roll on Summer! (50cL, BB 29/03/13, Cellarbrations Carlisle)

glennmastrange (2240) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - DEC 15, 2012
Bottle. Moderate grain and caramel for the malt, light dried grass and dough for the hops and yeast, with hints of banana, pepper and milk. Head is large, frothy/creamy turning rocky, white with good thick and heavy lacing and is fully lasting. Color is slightly hazy, yet sparkling, straw. Flavor starts faintly sweet, moderately acidic and a little sour, then finishes lightly acidic. Palate is medium, creamy with a fizzy carbonation. A nice mix of unusual aromas for a German Hefeweizen, almost like dolce de leche.
