It’s unclear golden with a creamy head. The aroma has mild notes of yeast, fruit and wheat. The flavor is sweet with notes of yeast, light fruit, and what, and the finish is slightly dry. Its’ OK but a tad thin-bodied...

A hazed amber weizen with a thin off white head. In aroma, sweet fruity malt with chalky notes, bananas, musty powder, a bit oxidized. In mouth, a sweet maderized malt with light fruity notes, oxidized, light bodied, disappointing. Bottle from El Corte Ingles, tasted Dec 27 2012.

Sweet banana aroma - classic hefeweizen. Smooth palate, crisp carbonation. A touch of toffee, but mostly the banana. Kinda dull, but very drinkable. Maybe a little watery later. Bizarrely, the sugars and esters come over as prunes later still.
Rerate of 500ml bottle (William K Mannerheimintie, Helsinki)
Indentical scores all round. Lovely perfumey flowery aroma, almost lavendery in its refreshing uplifting nature. Taste is a bit more boring and stodgy. Hops are nice in the finish, full buds.

Bottle @ home picked up at Supermarket Fort Collins. I was hoping to try this one in Ettal, but actually didn’t make it to Ettal my last trip and never saw this one in the supermarkets. To my great surprise, it showed up at Supermarket Liquor in Fort Collins on sale @ $1.29. Kind of makes me a nervous anytime I see a fire sale on German beer at a liquor store in Colorado, but what the hell. Pours a cloudy, actually quite dark orange appearance with a cream colored head. Spicy, bready yeasty, big clove, a bit minty aroma. Body is a bit thin. Fairly citrus forward, a bit spicy, thin bodied, wheat flavor. Bland, not very fun to drink, particularly old, butt fuck it, just looking to catch a buzz tonight. Cheers!

From draft in good shape. Multiple glasses. Amber-hued body under a properly billowy head. Sugar cookie, wheat malt, toast / bread crust, a little dough. Lots of bright esters and phenols: herbs, wood, spice, a touch of peppercorn boldness. Frothy, fine carbonation with a soft malt body made more doughy by the yeast. Off-dry and lightly tart, medium to low bitterness, high minerality, acids are bright but don’t overwhelm. This sits firmly in amber-weisse territory, the higher kilned malt give it a caramelized sugar savoriness to go with the bread crust / toast character, and the esters shy away from the banana and apple character I dislike in weissebier yeast.

bottle from Bierzwerg. Hazy deep golden colour, mid-sized, creamy head. Malty and wheaty with a fruity touch. Classic example of the style, without too much banana and tropical fruit, concentrating on the wheaty character.
