On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear brown with a thin white head. Aroma of sweet malt, hazelnut, roasted nuts, toffee, bitter coffee grounds. Flavor of sweet malt up front with bitter coffee, light fruits, roasted nuts, toffee. Tasty brown, nutty and slightly sweet. 7/4/8/4/14 (3.7/5)

Nice, well-rounded brown ale. Nice light roast malt with a little hops in nose. Pours dark rum amber without any head but ok lacing. Finishes with note of bitterness. Great grain profile, very much a whole-wheat cereal. On tap at brewpub.

On tap @ L’Amère à Boire (Montréal). Clear dark copper with a medium beige head and some lacing. Aroma is of resinous notes, nuts, caramel, grapefruit and herbal presence. Taste is moderately sweet and hoppy with caramel, resinous, grapefruit, nuts and moderate bitterness. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Moderately dry. Good hoppy brown ale.

Aroma of coffee and smokey cocoa. Dark brown color, looks thick and murky. Very sweet taste, and a right sized hint of bitterness too. Heavy but balanced and smooth body. Reminds of some sweeter porters only in ale form.

Man, this is a nice beer! Pours brown with a light almond covering and big lacing. Beautiful beer to look at. Nose is woody. Aromas are caramel, English breakfast tea, roasted malts, maybe a hint of espresso. Bit of a grassy hop in the finish. Taste is medium to high sweet with some bitterness in the finish. Mouth is a bit oily, with medium carbonation. This is really great!

On tap at Cactus. A brown to black, opaque ale with a short-lasting beige head. Smell is roast, smoke, hickory. Taste is very smokey, roast, milk chocolate, salty, somewhat dry. Some earthy hops in the finish, lots more smoke. Light bodied, watery mouthfeel. Pretty good.

On tap at Benelux, pours a fairly clear dark amber with a medium tan head. Aroma of caramel malts, and some toasted nuts. Flavour of toasted nuts, some very weird spices that I can;t put my finger on, low sweetness. Dominated by those weird flavours. Decent, but nothing amazing.
