(1050-040414)

on tap at cactus, qc. clear dark copper, orange tint, with a small creamy light beige orange head, good retention and lacing. load of barley sugar, cherry-cola candies, peppery caramel - linear maltiness, bananas and other phenolic esters, spices, few earthy and astringent notes. booze is well hidden. moderate to low carbonation, medium body - oily and sticky, sweet and assertive spicy-peppery-grassy finish. kind of offensive, just like this place i’m drinking/writing at the moment. blah.

Belle compagnie.

Tap. Moderate roasted cereal for the malt, light cooked orange for the hops and light broth for the yeast, with brown sugar, date, some spice and other fruitcake like aromas. Heas is average to large, frothy light tan, with good lacing and good legs and is mostly lasting. Color is clear burgandy. Flavor starts lightly sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, creamy with a soft carbonation. This Barley Wine has very nice subtle aromas, with an uncommonly bitter basckground.

On tap at the Brew Pub. Amber pour with an averaged sized off white head. Caramel, nuts, with some dark fruits. Some toffee and citrus with some warming alcohol in the finish.

Boutip (4637) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - APR 7, 2011
Draft: Poured a light copper color ale with a small foamy head. Aroma of medium caramelized sugar is OK though not as complex as I would have hoped. Taste is dominated by some caramelized sugar with limited number of other characteristics (no notes of dry fruits or toffee were noticeable). Body is definitely a bit light for style with no apparent alcohol. Lacking complexity and not the best from this brewer.

[on tap] Strawberry hops and toffee aroma. Cloudy red-orange appearance under thin, white lace. Salty from so much hops and with assertive bitterness, the flavour is mostly spicy, peppery melanoidins. Light to medium body, moderate carbonation, slightly bitter finish.
