COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

In short: A basic caramelized ale with woody notes. Ok
How: Cask at brewpub
The look: Cloudy light brown body topped by a beige ring of foam
In long: Discreet nose of caramel and vanilla. Taste is more of the same, smooth caramel, some vanilla, light woody notes, light notes of maple syrup, no hops presence. Body is very soft and feels a bit thin for a 7% brew. The regular Chief is not my favorite from Benelux and this barrel aged version does not improve on the beer. The last of only a handful of beers I rated during that anniversary party. Then many many more beers followed. Some stuff happened, probably. Just once I’d like to have a blackout that I can remember.

A lightly hazed dark amber ale with a thin lacing off white head. In aroma, an intereesting mineral hops, Belgian herbs, grassy and notes. In mouth, an interesting peaty malt, burned wood, nutty malt, not bad. On tap at brewpub, 5th Anniversary party, April 30 th.

Cask. (Rating #3643)
