neongolden (563) - Linköping, Sweden/Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 31, 2014
(Sample on tap at the downtown brewpub, May 26 2014) Poured a very hazy pale yellow-gold with a lasting frothy white head and lace. Aroma very yeasty and doughy, clove, cardamom (?), chamomile soap, lemon zest, slight pit fruit, herbal. Flavour pretty much followed nose, a little sweet pale malt to start but finish reasonably bitter, slightly acidic/tart, mostly dry and yeasty. Not terrible but didn’t really come together for me, Medium bodied but with very lively, effervescent carbonation. Drinkable.

Had this on draft at the Benelux brewery in Montreal. Flight pour. Has the dirty baby diaper smell and taste. Apricot and tart. Alright

Poured a slightly hazy orange with an off white head. Aroma of yeast, spiced citrus, light barnyard. Medium body, flavour much as the aroma. Decent.

Couleur orange pratiquement opaque qui laisse pénétrer quelques rayons de lumiére. Arôme de levures et houblon. Excellent goût de céréales, d’orange et d’herbe. Un de mes classiques!

Tap. Light grain and straw for the malt, heavy perfume and lemon peel for the hops, moderate dough and soap for the yeast, with clove and faint apricot in the background. Head is large, frothy. turning rocky, white with good yet thin lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is slightly hazy pale yellow. Flavor starts lightly to moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. palate is light to medium, a bit slick, with a soft to lively carbonation and a lightly alcoholic and dry finish. More Tripel than Saison to me, but plenty complex and still easy drinking.

draft at brewery, this saison was fantastic, tasted like apple falvored with the hop bite perfect at the end. The saison yeast flavors follow throughout

Pint at brewpub. Cloudy deep golden small white head. Pleasant esters, citrus, light spiciness, yeasty and wet bread dough, light bitter herbs. Medium-plus body, assertive effervescence. Nice fruity esters, spiciness, leafy hops, light yeast, bitter herbals, strong citrus; off-dry with good bitterness and a complex finish of citrus, herbals, esters. Lovely.

(424-070711-)

On tap at Benelux, pours a cloudy orange with a small beige head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, some mild barnyard funk and hay. Flavour features lots of barnyard funk, very wild, moderate yeast showing, finishing quite yeasty and less wild than initially. Medium carbonation. Solid saison.
